FPAIR Discord: https://discord.gg/VmyuzRz Please tell me if the OP needs any more info, pretty much the first megathread I've ever dared to create. (Also suggest a better font for the picture above, it's hideous) I can't stand Novritsch and Silo nowadays with their clickbait titles. Novritsch especially annoys me and Silo not so much except for his clickbait. They're starting to become the same YouTuber really, except one's from the Netherlands and the other's from Austria.
Airsoft youtubers tend to be pretty shit if they play themselves. I quite like Scoutthedoggie because he mostly just films. No clickbait shit like the others. I currently own a Cyma AK-104(CM040I), but I'm thinking of replacing it with an E&L AK-74mn. The Cyma is real good, but I personally just want a full length unmolested AK-74. If I want I can always get some Zenitco furniture for it anyway.
Never really watched him I guess I'll give it a try later. I think I'd want to start with just any generic M4 that does a reasonable job for not too much and get an AK later on. Feel like starting with an AK isn't really something that a lot of people do, probably for good reasons.
A Cyma AK is probably the best starter I can think of. There aren't a lot of sub-€200 replicas I can recommend, but the CM040 is one of them. I started airsoft with two friends who both went for different guns. One D-boys HK416 and a D-boys Scar-L. The HK416 shot very low and inconsistent, between 220 and 280. Entire thing was taken apart, spring replaced and it finally shot 340, but still had feeding problems. And then the grip broke off. The Scar-L shoots pretty well, but the hop-up was stuck and had to be taken apart. It does work quite well now though. Meanwhile my CM040 hasn't had a single problem. I guess the stock was a bit loosely attached, but that was easily fixed by tightening the screw. I think the reason you don't see a lot of new airsofters with AK's is because you don't see a lot of AK's at all over here. Practically everyone has an M4.
woah an airsoft thread Here's a pic of me 4-5 years ago sweating like a pig. I'm thinking about starting with airsoft again, mostly just for excersize and social stuff https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58145/f87c5ef6-40c0-4264-8373-ac111f635013/gkyZCm9.png Got new gear though (not in pic). 3M Peltor headset G&G AK5C with grenade launcher Berghaus Centurio 45L backpack Snigel Design pouches Mechanix Wear - Recon A better holster Radio upgrades Don't laugh about my rifle and its' setup, worst descision of my life. Even broke the same day I played with it.
Aside from the rifle, that is one sick ass setup. Isn't that one very expensive headset?
$400, just as much as my new AK5C which I love.
Oh neat, airsoft exists again on FP now. On the topic of dumb airsoft YouTubers, not to shill my own channel but I've been uploading gameplay footage for over a year now and I explicitly avoid all the dumb tropes like clickbait thumbnails, hitmarkers, and killfeeds. Sure, they might not be as interesting or attention-grabbing but I really just do videos as another hobby. I'm not trying to make any money off of YouTube, I just like making vids and sharing them with my friends. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC60nUv5qssylGi0HETu_CoA/videos Might post new vids in this subforum, I always appreciate feedback on how I can edit my videos better.
What kind of radio setup you got? That's a huge ass antennae you're packing.
^ This quote was stuck on my phone, ignore it. Just what the world needs really. Actual airsoft footage of average airsoft matches. Won't get very popular without the clickbait due to YouTube's algorithm sadly though. The subs look a bit crude but the rest's fine. I don't see hitmarkers as a bad thing, quite satisfying really. Killfeeds are kinda dumb if you have hitmarkers. You hit, you get a kill, and it's not like you'll ever know anymore about your enemy than "Enemy Player". So it all looks the same.
my hato kit is finally mostly complete. Hoping to get my m60 fixed relatively soon so I can take some good photos with it. https://i.imgur.com/gb129P9.jpg
Bought the headset and PTT after the picture was taken. AN/PRC-152(UV) Multiband VHF/UHF $400 3M Peltor WS SportTac Light $300-400 TRI G-Switch II Tactical (6 pins) $80 Even though it is top-notch quality I still don't recommend it, simply because you can't recharge the batteries which costs a fortune in longer usage ($50-100 x1). You can buy custome batteries that are rechargable but you're gonna have to spend a few hundred bucks for a single battery that can. If you want a cheap radio just go with a Baofeng with an extended antenna. There's a lot of airsoft replica headsets and PTT:s that can be used for it.
Good lord... Yeah I already have a Baofeng dual band UV82r or whatever. I need a good PTT/Headset to go with it. Was thinking about the code red headsets, specifically this one: Battle Zero Tactical Bone Conduction Headset | Code Red Headsets

Is that the MTech Extreme Tanto or one of those CS:GO replica's? PS. Don't bring that to an airsoft field please lol
Nice, I literally just bought the Gen 3 with upgrades. I've got a G18C and the G19 feels a lot nicer in my hands because it's just a little smaller. When I first started airsoft, I didn't have any friends who already played. 7 years later and I've made a bunch of friends and met lots of cool guys just attending games and getting to know the regular faces. I'd find a field close to you and just start going and eventually you'll make friends. Another great resource is Facebook; pretty much all the games here are organized through FB groups and posting "Hey, I live in x city, anyone nearby want to carpool to a game?" can lead to great results.
It's a Fade Huntsman from Elemental knives. The CSGO knives I fancy but I'd rather have the real thing than spend a thousand dollars on gambling for no physical and meaningful gain I'll look into it when I have time, thanks
I've only played two matches so far but enjoyed it so far, bought a few pieces of kits after my first, cause having to use rental overalls wasn't to nice in this stupidly hot weather
I'm going across to Scotland soon, was hoping to start playing this while i'm there.
So I was thinking of buying a FLIR lepton 3 and then integrating that with a raspberry pi zero and a small display and beam splitter setup to make a budget thermal scope overlay. The sensor is $240 for the 9hz version and you can find $350 sensors which are 30hz. The resolution is 160x120 which isnt amazing but its enough to navigate at night and at airsoft ranges its definitely enough to spot people. It could also pretty easily be adapted into a monocular for things like night games.
Went to my first airsoft event over the weekend, showing up with absolutely nothing but money to rent gear with and basic rule knowledge - Probably the most fun I've had in years, and I'm sincerely considering really getting into it (If I can find any fields near me, the one I played at is closing down atm)
Was that at Nomad Airsoft?
Yo, anyone know if an airsoft FAL exists? I tried looking but couldn't really find anything. I know there is a really good G3 though, tempted to get it but don't have the funds ATM.
Awesome, thanks! Shame it would cost me over $600 dollarydoos.
Looks cheap, besides, you gotta go with real wood furniture on a FAL.
Airsoft is illegal in Australia, but gel ball shooters seem to be picking up in popularity. I only have a some full auto deagle replica, but i am interested in the larger, more powerful rifles and some mil-sim gear. I dont think there are any groups in my area that run those anyway though
i have this rifle, it's pretty alright for a budget-tier gun, though i've only taken it to one game so far.
Nah, just a local no-name field that cost too much in rent for the owners to keep running
My next decent purchase will probably be a TM 870 breacher, or if I want to really burn a hole in my pocket- a LCT AK base and real steel FB Beryl parts to put together a polish kit.
Join me, emigrate to another country where it's legal.
