Musk hopes his engineers can join the already huge operation being carried out he Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex, where dozens of Thai Navy SEALs and international experts are attempting to find a way to get the boys out. Someone asked if he could help on Twitter: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1014754638950645760?s=19 https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1015138953693880320?s=19 There's a longer tweet thread worth reading. The idea is sending batteries and pumps that can safely get to areas where other pumps can't. And also building a air tube which people can escape through: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1015105500105412610?s=19 I doubt they'll opt for Elon's idea, but more helping hands and batteries would probably be a good help.
It's heartwarming to see all kinds of people offfering to help the boys out. Kinda like a few years ago when those miners were stuck for a really long time.
This is great and all but maybe he should have sent engineers from the FunAndExciting company instead.
If so, could dropship fully charged Powerpacks and pumps. What is this Iron Man shit lmao Like sometimes the stuff he types out looks so surreal
Remember that Musk isn't just living the life of a wealthy elite. He is living the life of a wealthy elite nerd.
I know companies in the Musksphere have all kinds of problems but they have a particular brand of "cowboy engineering" that really pleases me. Reminds me of olden days NASA.
I'm sure those not-a-flamethrower's will be very handy in this situation being serious though, I don't really expect them to have any equipment that the Thai government can't already get. they say they have a sophisticated ground penetrating radar but the government there already was using something like that
The dropship comment is literally just a cargo plane of supplies. He's not sending automated Iron Man suits with cargo.
Damn, I would have settled for Ospreys.
we N E E D more private Ospreys in action
We really don't, VTOLs need some work in order to have acceptable reliability and operating costs.
The problem is that I'm sure they can get the equipment, but can they get them in time, and do they have the spare funding laying around to express deliver said equipment?
Communication continues: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1015307876829548544?s=19 Interesting conversation going on through Twitter... It's kind of sweet.
There's been all kinds of shit getting shipped out there in response to the event, it makes sense to have equipment ready to be used, if it's needed. I saw someone say they're looking into if they can fly better pumps in from the Netherlands.

Honestly if they go with this and it works I'll be blown away
This is some inspiring shit. Elon Musk is seriously like Tony Stark without the power armor. As far as we know.
I know, I'm talking about the government probably not being able to get the resources that tesla is bringing on time, if at all.
Airdrop my dude. I'm sure Elon can figure out how to get hardware in a remote location.
teflon coated fabric doesn't work like that >_<
the dude's engineers have made a fucking self-landing rocket so it's dead certain they can figure that out
forget practicality, style is king
Yeah, but in such a short amount of time?

Honestly, that would be fucking hilarious to see happen. He did want to use Falcon rockets as a form of rapid transport for people.

Mad props to Musk for just getting stuck in on an idea purely because it might help.
Just a reminder, there is about 4km of cave to navigate through to get to the soccer team. This is a very difficult task, one thai diver (former navy seal) died making the trek through the cave.
Based off what he said and what we know about the F9, it seems the hull of the sub will be made from this part: http://i.imgur.com/GfLBjE9.jpg It's about 16 inches in diameter. (According to fellow SpaceX nerds) a scuba tank is about 7 inches in diameter.
