Jose Nunez, 47, a 10-year veteran of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, faces a minimum of 25 years in jail after being charged with super aggravated sexual assault of a child Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a press conference the mother of the young victim came forward to a local fire station after the girl cried out for help. Police believe Nunez may have abused the girl over several months, possibly up to two years. Salazar added that Nunez “utilized” the fact that the girl’s mother was an undocumented immigrant and used this to “place her in fear” that she would be deported if she tried to report the abuse. Salazar described the case involving one of the department’s own deputies as “heartbreaking, disturbing, disgusting, and infuriating all at the same time.” He added that there may be more potential victims and urged others to come forward. “Folks like this are creatures of habit and opportunity,” Salazar said. “I don’t know that he was purposely targeting the undocumented community. Certainly what was appealing was the vulnerability of that community because they are less apt to report things.” Salazar also urged people who may be witness to a crime to come forward, even if they are an undocumented immigrant. “Just like we’re doing in this case, we are filling out paper with the witness in question to make sure she is given protected status pending the outcome of this case,” he said. “It’s important that they feel comfortable enough to give us a call and report the crime.” Salazar said next the next stage of the investigation will involve separating Nunez from the agency “as soon as possible.” "We will absolutely arrest you if you break the law and it doesn't matter if you wear a uniform, if you carry a badge, if you carry a gun. If you break the law, you are going to jail,” he added.
Imagine if she gets deported anyway because of Trump's policies. What a great impression of America...
Throw him out of the country and you might actually be performing a good deed.
Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Trump pardons him.
No, because hes our fucking mess and we have to deal with him.
I know this is probably gonna be considered a bit of a faux pas but oh my god, this guy sort of looks like a human version of Shrek.
This is literally why "sanctuary cities" exist, so that people aren't afraid to go to the police. If you make people the enemy of the police, they become vulnerable to criminals like this.
I want to say, "Take him out in to the middle of the desert and put two rounds in the back of his worthless skull." But that wouldn't be a nice thing to say. So instead I'll just say: Live and die in a cell, piece of shit. Out of all the infuriating things I read and hear in the news every single day, something about this one in particular is setting me to fucking overload.
Not really, you don't dump your trash on somebody else's lawn and say that you did the chores. He should be in jail where he belongs.
He will go to Texas State Prison...which are pretty shit prisons. Him being a former cop and child rapist isn't going to do him very well while he is there.
Fedsmoker was right
You mean accurate?
He's pretty fucked once he hits the prison system, I can imagine the environment fostered there (especially in Texas) will not look kindly upon both an ex-cop and a child molester.
Never got why people think it's acceptable that criminals, no matter how vile, suffer such extra-judicial punishment for their actions while in prison. This man's actions make me want to puke. So do the ratings on this post. Rather than celebrate petty revenge, shouldn't the focus be on investigating how this is possible at all within a government agency? And on taking the necessary measures to ensure this never happens again?
You can sit on your high horse all you want, but that is the reality. He is fucked, am I going to go out of my way to celebrate it? No. Do I really care about his well being? No. Basically, who gives a shit he did it to himself. Absolutely the agency should investigate it, which it seems like they are. Do i need to focus on it? No.
My mother was a victim, as were several people in my extended family. I simply happen not to subscribe to thoughtless revenge like some people here. The point of the justice system is that just punishment is the one decided by our laws and judges.
https://www.fairfieldcitizenonline.com/news/texas/article/Texas-deputy-accused-of-child-rape-dies-in-13171069.php SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A Texas sheriff's deputy accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and threatening her mother with deportation if she reported the abuse died in jail from an apparent suicide, according to authorities. Jose Nunez, 47, was found dead in his cell at the Karnes Correctional Center, southeast of San Antonio, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Tuesday. Salazar declined to specify how Nunez apparently killed himself, but he said the manner of his death and evidence in the cell led investigators to conclude it was suicide. Nunez, a 10-year veteran of the Bexar County sheriff's office assigned to that county's jail, was locked up at the jail in nearby Karnes County under a policy instituted by Salazar. "Nothing good can come from housing one of our own deputies in our facility," he said, explaining that he wants to avoid any claims of preferential treatment for some inmates and believes it's safer to hold an incarcerated deputy elsewhere. The company that operates the Karnes facility, The GEO Group, didn't immediately reply to an email seeking comment. Nunez was arrested in June on a charge of super aggravated sexual assault of a child. Authorities said the assaults may have been going on for months or even years and that Nunez threatened the girl's mother, who is from Guatemala, with deportation if she reported him. Nunez was related to the pair. Despite the threat, the mother took the girl to a fire station to make a report. Salazar said that even though Nunez has died, the investigation will continue to determine if there were other assault victims. The mother, who Salazar said is in the U.S. legally on a work permit, will remain in the San Antonio area with her daughter during the duration of the investigation. Holy shit the guy was related to them.
Good fucking riddance, what an appalling waste of resources.
A surprising number of sex crimes and murders are carried out by someone familiar to the victim. There's a reason the old "paedophile uncle" meme is as such.
Even prisoners have a code of conduct - child molestors may as well be dead men walking when they enter prison. Killing himself is probably better than the torture he would endure in prison.
