She pissing off Scottish Nationalists again. And plus this isn't her first time, she do this.
To be fair, most brands of nationalism contain some bigotry.
But she attacking wrong group of nationalists this time, British nationalist types she misinterpreted.
JK Rowling said something tone deaf? Y o u d o n ' t s a y
Nah, not really. SNP endorses civic nationalism.

Sure, some Scottish nationalists are bigots, but they're disavowed pretty quickly if they are open with it.
...are we going to have a no true scottsman argument with actual scottsmen?
or scottswomen
Scottsperson, I'd think, since ScotGov is introducing legislation to officially recognise non-binary folks too. (Technically amendments to an existing piece that recognises transgender people)
isnt jk rowling an actual hack fraud anyways. like she will literally say anything if it gives her money and more recognition.
JK Rowling can't say shit about bigotry when she agrees with shit like "Trans women are just men in dresses" and then blames all such comments on her age.
Neat to know there’s a name for something I believe. I’ve had a difficult time explaining that to people but this is way easier now.
thanks man.
I never hear anything about politics and stuff since I'm American. Is she known to say stupid shit?
Kinda. Only one I can always remember though was that one time where it was announced that a black woman would portray Hermonie in a live play, and Rowling then claimed she never
explicitly said what colour she had in the books. Only for someone to quote the first book where it was clearly stated that Hermonie was a pale, white girl.
Or retroactively making Dumbledore gay.
He was gay from the beginning. There's lots of little hints throughout the books that are easy enough to miss if you read them as a kid, and she defined his sexuality long enough in advance that she was able to get a line cut from one of the early movie adaptations about him having a girlfriend.
Who even likes the English? I'm not sure if the English themeselves like the English.
The line that people usually referenced in response to that claim was most likely a figure of speech, not a literal description of her skin color.
Wow, that's rich coming from the person who invented the term muggle.
Don't worry, the racists will co-opt it soon enough.
Did she? Fair enough, I only read the czech versions so it's possible small details and like that were lost.
JK Rowling is a bourgie TERF, but frankly, all nationalism has traces of bigotry
That's not the quote. I'm not even sure where he got that from because it sure as hell wasn't what people were quoting, I'm not sure if it's even in the books. I forget what it is exactly but it's
something like "She stuck her white face out from behind the door". "Her white face" in this case probably being an indicator of the fact that she was scared, as it would be a very strange way
of mentioning the literal color of her skin.
She was obviously written as a white character, but not because of that.
They already have? Racists since nationalism even began loved to make claims of defending western society and values instead of race.
Civic nationalism is just mildly reform/civilized center-left version of stereotypical nationalism.
Or limousine transphobic social liberally british nationalist?
She is certainly not looking for more money. Rowling is like the most successful current living writer. I think she has about 700 million dollarinos.
black people don't get whiter when they get pale like white people do lmao
Yeah when has nationalism ever done anything peaceful or constructive.
It's such a shame that Norway isn't still represented by the Swedish state and monarchy, it's really gone downhill since that silly nationalistic referendum in 1905
Every time I hear anything about scotland (especially nationalism or independence) I can't help but think of:

People don't need representation from hierarchical power structures, and there wouldn't be that much difference from living under the Swedish state or the Norwegian state.
You're born on a random piece of landmass with no choice of where and when, and you're subjugugated to the rule of the gang whose landmass you happen to be born in.
Nationalism is useless at best, dangerous at worst.
Lmao what are you on about. People need proper representation of their needs and desires, and yes, that manifests itself often along cultural lines because different cultures have different needs.
Nationalism is a useful tool for good at best, and dangerous at worst, but that danger should not put people off from wanting national representation,
