I can't find any tutorials on how to create effects for gmod i would like to create some effects for a swep i am trying to make if anyone could lead me to a forum page or anything of the sort would be appreciated.

ohh so is it just materials and then you make the effect with lua i hope i am right
It always depends on what "type" of effect you want to create. For a muzzleflash for example I'd recommend particles.
I wan't an effect that resembles the ones in doctor strange the golden/yellow kinda effect i want to try and make a swep for it are particles better in this case or effects?
I think you can make particles in the Particle Editor as well, but it doesn't use any Lua.
If you want to make .pcf files (which most particles are), then you could try using that.
