Not sure what to think about professional football being seen as an escape for people living in underprivileged conditions. On the one hand, it's good that they have those role models to give them hope and prove that getting out of their situation is possible, on the other very few succeed at it and itight prevent us from seeking sturdier solutions to the problem of social mobility.
