I can't believe Breath of the Wild contains an all your base reference
damn, hyrule really is ancient
I'm curious to see what they end up doing for the next game. Likely, it'll be using this engine again.
Honestly I'd want them to go full on futuristic fantasy with the next one. Though I mostly want a human Ganon again and for him to play a more active role.
Futuristic fantasy setting would be interesting, and completely break the convention. If they stick with open world, I'd just like if they added more variety and more things to do beyond collect items with no particular goal.
I want to see that 2D Zelda prototype being fleshed out into its own game.
spoilers please
I'd want him to play an active role, at all. The overall story in BOTW sucked, tbh. It's gameplay was so good that people forgot about it's horrible story, where most of it was exposition.
I had no idea about the use of hills to obscure certain things so that players would choose their own paths. That's some good design.
Zelda was never really known for its story. But I think they deliberately aimed the story to make it possible to approach it from any angle. Giving the freedom to the player where to start and go by not limiting him at the cost of a worse structure and less dramatization.
I want a Zelda game that starts out with Link being crowned the new king of Hyrule with Zelda as his queen. Everything is fine and dandy for a while, but of course some shit goes wrong somehow. A game where you start with everything, but lose it all.
zelda game where zelda has a gun and shoots terrorists
I'd love to see a sequel involving that Link concept where he's half-hylian, half-shiekah tech. Hell, make it someone else who's trying to find Link as a means of figuring out why they're the way they are?
Ganondorf hasn't be a villian for nearly 15 years at this point.
Still such a prominent character and with good reason. People even invented some fist-fighter caricature of him due to the Smash games.
Part of me hopes ganon and the triforce take a back seat in the next game. I love that part of the story don't get me wrong, but I really enjoy the world building in the games without them, the evil tribe creating Majora's Mask or the Fierce Diety one, or the new lands in Phantom Hourglass or New Hyrule.
I will admit though ganon himself was really lackluster in BotW, not to mention the four main bosses. I loved the Divine Trial one just because it wasn't the same Blight Ganon fight again because of it .
I want a Zelda game where Link gets shot in the head and left for dead in a shallow grave
I need a Zelda game where you play as Tingle and just watch TV all day.
Tingle already has three games.
I think it's good to remember that BotW is the chronologically 'latest' game in the series. I think it'd be cool to see a pre-Calamity Hyrule, but also long before the Guardians and all such things as that (ie recognisable stuff from BotW, otherwise it'd just feel like a prequel). It'd give an opportunity to have some of that future-tech whilst also fleshing out the large chunk of empty space BotW has created in the timeline.
Where's The Legend of Groose: Grooseward Groose?
"Truth is...the game was rigged from the start."
ā Ganondorf
I'd like to see a game where Ganondorf is, for once, not a reincarnation of Demise, or perhaps had the evil purged from him. So, in order to clear his name or pursue good will with the Hylians, he aids Link in his quest to fight the real evil. You could even have him go more of an anti-hero route if he's not to be a completely good guy.
I imagine if the Master Sword was destroyed, that could theoretically destroy Demise's link to Ganon, but I imagine Ganon is already far gone as an evil entity as far as either timeline goes. Remember that Ganondorf doesn't reincarnate either, it's the same one every time, he's not going to be "born" as a good guy.
Nintendo is probably never going to break the tradition of letting you play as Link but as shown in the video the idea of playing a female Link has been tossed around.
Does anything in the Zelda lore mention that Link has to be Hylian?
There's a sidequest in BOTW where you give a Gerudo lady some monster parts for an antidote and mentions that she's going to name her kid Link after you, I think it would be neat to see a Zelda game told from a perspective other than the usual Hylian story. This also allows them to have a female Link, too (I'm guessing in the next Zelda the gender or Link will be a choice at the beginning regardless, though)
Here's the thing tho: Demise never mentions being Ganon or ONLY being linked to him.
He is just an evil force that follows the Spirit of the Hero and the Reincarnated Goddess. It's a curse.
A game that illustrates it well is Spirit Tracks where Malladus is titled "The Demon King".
But that's Demise's title. And Ganon's! They're not related aside from being demons and leaders.
Basically, what Demise's says at the end doesn't mean jack shit aside from a curse that implies that at least three important figures will come to blows for the fate of Hyrule or at the very least, the Triforce.
Which rather is a poorly thought out curse because the only think that stops evil from taking over is the power of both the Hero and the Goddess. So the only think that shot itself in the foot is Demise.
He sealed the fate of any evil withing range of the Hero and Goddess.
