Judging by the comments, shows how un-selfaware the alt-right is.
I noticed the same thing. Specially noticable by their god, tradition, women and kin comments.
like if they watched the visuals, it shows that what they're saying is in an ironic matter.
they are synonyms at this point
Nope dude plenty people call them as they are. 'Alt-right' is a title they gave themselves so they could distance themselves from the negative connotations of "fascist" or "nazi". The less it's used the better.
Funnily enough their founder Anders Breivik doesn't like the term either, he openly calls himself a Nazi.
It's almost like the alt-right is composed of the dumbest, most inbred people on the planet or something. I'm not sure whether I actually like it, mostly because when I think 'Bad Religion making a song about nazis', I expect something with a LOT more teeth than this, something that punches.
Some use "classical liberal" instead of alt-right, but it's all the same. They just want to sound like they're not what they make themselves out to be: fascists.
Pretty surface level anti alt-right stuff. It's pretty much all I see when it comes to music that criticize them with sucks though I kinda blame it on the fact that it's mostly written by old, out of touch people who don't really know why this kinda ideology could be appealing to kids. I feel like younger people could make a more scathing and dirty critique of the alt-right through song but the closest that I have seen are those soundcloud rappers occasionally mentioning race relations in America.
Breivik wasn't a founding figure of the alt-right. They're a offshoot of neo-reaction for the most part (who in themselves are fairly varied but generally all fascists and nationalists). The alt-right are part of the schism of neo-reactionary thought that actually attempts to make themselves presentable to the public by wearing a facade of modern standpoints (believe me, the rest of neo-reactionary off-shoots are way more blatant and somehow more awful human beings). Breivik is a Nazi, that's undoubted. But he doesn't have a lot to do with the alt-right.
"Classical liberal" is more of a generic useful idiot anti-SJW thing.
Think of the far right as a whirlpool, the actual nazis are the eye of it. Those idiots are about halfway down. Breivik had a lot to do with starting the modern neo-Nazi movement though. He originally identified heavily with the American reactionary Tea Party movement and said he was trying to start a Norwegian equivalent thereof. Many leading alt-right figures very openly cite him and his massacre as the start of their movement, Ted Beale literally prays to the guy. His manifesto also spread like wildfire among the internet reactionary community, and in doing so is actually the reason that the modern alt-right is obsessed with the "cultural marxism" conspiracy theory, because he mentioned it constantly along with other standard conservative bogeymen like feminism, atheism, political correctness, and environmentalism which he called "eco marxism" this manifesto also heavily references American far right figures like Dave Horowitz, Pamela Geller, and Ted Kaczynski. Breivik's actions predate the term alt-right, and the prominence thereof, but he is the living embodiment of the movement.
Fuck, man, it feels so weird hearing about Breivik again. It feels like just yesterday I was reading the thread about the attacks on Facepunch, and now I'm reading about the long-term effects of his actions as they're happening.
I wouldn't be surprised if it got linked on something like /pol/.
Man, when this went up a few days ago, I saw a comment saying that see, this song shows that being right-wing is the new punk rock and BR is on their side. Which is either the laziest attempt at trolling I've seen in a while or uh...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MkRuV0aCcI would've preferred it being more blunt but thats just me...
