I'm not a big expert on emulation but if the release of this is gonna be as good as it seems, I'm going to be so fucking blown away. XBOX was my fuckin childhood

here's some footage I found of JSRF running on it, damn near perfectly from what I can tell
Can't wait to finally be able to play Breakdown again
Hopefully this means I can actually finish MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf sometime soon.
And it keeps improving too, I've been playing on the development versions for a bit and in the span of about acouple of months it's gone from boost dashing turning the entire screen black and graffiti textures being flat black like in the video, to boost dashing causing video artifacts and graffiti looking fine but the player's not properly applying, to boost dashing working near-perfectly and graffiti working normally most of the time.
Breakdown is available on Xbox One.
That JSRF footage though, holy shit that looks good
Really hyped to play DOA3 again.
PRAISE VENGAR
Mech Assault and Bloodwake baby!
Oh shit. At last I'll be able to play Unreal Championship 2.
I suggest y'all give Phantom Crash a try when this comes out, it's a very obscure but awesome fast paced mech shooter that ~nobody but me remembers~
Dude hoyl shit, I had that game as a kid. So much fun!
Bruh I still have my copy of it, it's a great game, even if there is a lot of that pointless dialogue you get in Eastern games, you know the kind, 4,000 lines of dialogue that are just complete bullshit and takes 20 minutes to skip through.
Yeah this game was really well done, I do wish it was on PC.
I remember it. I bring it up every time people talk about classic games. It's a fantastic game.
I played the 'sequel' SLAI: Steel Lancer Assault International for the PS2 and it's a downgrade in almost every aspect, which sucks. It's still good but if you made someone play both and said Phantom Crash was the sequel they'd believe you.
On a semi-related note, I hope someone gets Steel Battalion working. I still have the controller and I've seen videos of people using it for Hawken, Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous.
It being open source means that no one can squat on the code like a ninny. Popular open source projects die all the time, it's no silver bullet. Just look at MPC-HC.
All i want is Project Gotham Racing in 1080p 60FPS
If you want a good example of what going open-source can lead to, just look at the Dolphin emulator.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin_(emulator)#Development
It started off as a closed-source GameCube emulator that could run a handful of games, the game list it could run was short, and it lacked emulation for several large features like audio.
The project was discontinued a few years later, only to be revived again as open-source a few years after that.
It took a bit over a year after the open-source release before it could run the majority of the available games, and performance improved massively in the time-span.
Heck, development is still going strong and new releases happen regularly. Their development blog is a great read and I'd recommend looking at it if you're interested in hardware design.
BLOODWAKE BLOODWAKE BLOODWAKE
i'll be able to finally play more than the demo of Voodoo Vince
Deathrow, here I come!
You can get Voodoo Vince on steam.
thanks for the tip!
I used to run mechs with 4 machine guns and melt enemies down. Loved that game as a kid.
I wonder if xlink kai would work with this?
Aren't there sub-100 Xbox exclusives? I'm hyped, but really, you're primarily just gaining access to those Xbox exclusive titles, most of which were admittedly not the best. It's a big part of why emulating Xbox took this long. From my memory, the only Xbox exclusives I played and enjoyed were:
Breakdown
Brute Force
Blinx
DoA3
D&D Heroes,
JSRF
Project Gotham
MechAssault
Star Wars: Obi-wan
Halo got PC and mods and campaign, Unreal Champions is inferior version of Unreal Tournament.
Though it will be nice to play some non-exclusive titles that had far better versions on the Xbox than the PS2.
Unreal Championship 2 is quite a different game compared to the first one. I'm honestly surprised that hasn't come out for PC or even as a backwards compatible title on XB1 at this point. I will agree that first UC is pretty bad, though
I don’t care what it takes, just get me Halo 2. The PC port is still bloated as hell on modern PCs and the MCC is, well, the MCC.
Wake me when Ninja Gaiden Black is playable.
The Xbox versions of games were often graphically superior to the PS2 versions, so having a Xbox emulator will let people play with the enhanced Xbox graphics and all the bells and whistles we can inject into the games.
