ALBANY — Gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon considers herself a democratic socialist, she told POLITICO on Tuesday.
Nixon, an actor best known for her role in “Sex and the City,” is running a left-flank challenge to Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a Democratic primary this September. She has promised to raise taxes on the rich to increase funding for public schools and mass transit, and she supports a single-payer health care system.

There's a blue wave, but it's going to hit a huge red wall. I encounter people daily who think "these stupid socialists, it doesn't work, look at Korea!" and then slap on their Trump bumper sticker. The follies of the Democratic party weren't as problematic as the unification of the harder Republicans we've all seen over the past ten years. People who'd literally would rather sabotage the country, shrug and go "well, I can't be worrying about that" when the problems start rearing their ugly heads for people. And when it would reach them, it'll likely be a generation or two down the road, so they'll never be affected.

Would you rather have established corporate shills or TV stars? Both aren’t ideal but one is much less likely to be incentivized to fuck over the general populace for profit. The unfortunate thing is that Trump was both.

You already have the fame that politicians pay out of their ass, usually by being bankrolled by large interests to receive a fraction of the fame a A-B-C list celebrity has. Celebrities aren't uncommon to politics, Reagan used his fame, as did plenty of other actors, comedians, and hell even astronauts have done.
