Nintendo Managing Director and former president Tatsumi Kimishima declined the opportunity to comment on particular third-party games. "Cross-play basically comes about from conversations between publishers and platform holders," explained Tanaka. "We are inclined to do what we can to help publishers incorporate cross-play when that is what they want. The other parties involved also have a say in whether we are able to reach this outcome or not, so we will continue to discuss it with them." Tanaka's words echo similar sentiments expressed by Nintendo of America COO and President Reggie Fils-Aime. Speaking with IGN at E3, Fils-Aime declined to talk about Sony's decision to ban cross-play on PlayStation 4, but he spoke about how Nintendo is high on the feature for Switch games.
does Rocket League for Switch do this already? That’s would be really great to play between XB1 + PC + Switch.
What I really want is a shared server between PC and Switch for Dark Souls, so I can pick up and play on Switch where I left off on PC
It's getting crossplay later this year. https://www.windowscentral.com/rocket-league-get-cross-play-between-xbox-one-and-nintendo-switch
Lmao fuck you sony
No thanks, console is the easiest way to avoid cheaters
To be honest in my hundreds of hours of all three I've not had that many hacker invasions at all there have really only been a small number of times and that is it
Mods already exist for the switch. All of mario odysseys challenge leaderboards are fucked if you go to the top slots and there's modded lobbies in splatoon 2 as well. Console only servers certainly restrict the problem as the barrier of entry for modding on PC is far lower than the switch (I'm not about to start jabbing a paperclip into my 260 dollar switch) but it doesn't completely fix the problem. Cross platform servers/progression has more positives than negatives especially if there is a moderation team employed to work against cheaters, or a way to detect modded save files and bar those from being hosted.
The next thing after crossplay ideally imo would be crossbuy, but that miiight be asking too much.
Sure took a while but it is nice to see cross play becoming more of a thing these days. It's just baffling that Sony, which originally allowed cross play between PS3 and PC has done such a massive 180 on it.
And that's only with certain digital purchases of games on the xbox live market. Games like minecraft and gears of war ultimate for some reason don't have cross buy. It's a cool idea but MS hasn't really done much implementation of it. Xbox Play Anywhere | Xbox the list of all two cross buy games.
