MGM is developing a new installment of RoboCop and has set District 9 director Neill Blomkamp to helm the picture, which is titled RoboCop Returns. The studio hopes to revive a franchise that began with the Paul Verhoeven-directed satirical sci-fi action thriller that Orion released in 1987. Original writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner are producing and exec producing, respectively. Justin Rhodes, who co-wrote the Terminator film that Tim Miller is shooting, will rewrite the script that Neumeier and Miner wrote years ago as a planned sequel to Verhoeven’s hit, an installment that never happened. That duo is creatively involved in moving forward their creation for the first time since the original. Source: Deadline
good that blomkamp's not writing and only directing
Fuck me it has the original writers are producers? Means we're going to be seeing something thats just as good as the original, hopefully
oh god please stop making remakes and reboots
I'm down if it goes back to being R-rated satire and dark comedy.
Without Paul Verhoeven they got a lot of homework to do.
I'd watch that for a dollar.
It ain't RoboCop without the R rating.
Bitches, leave.
I actually thought the 2014 movie was pretty decent up until it completely fell apart at the end. It certainly didn't feel like the original at all, but had its own somewhat interesting take on surveillance, automation, ethics, etc. But again it completely fell apart at the end.
this isn't a quote but it is a similarly crucial part of the movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYBY0H8fiKE
Give it either a 15 or 18 rating and don't fuck about with the family shit, give it the sidelines, small bits here and there, not the near main focus.
Give Robocop a jetpack.
No, what he needs is a holographic sidekick.
original robocop armor and slow movement, he needs to be a tank on legs
(R)obocop or I'm not seeing it
I remember Blomkamp saying the only way he'd go back to doing Hollywood reboots was if they effectively let him do whatever he wanted with the movie without constant pestering, unlike what happened with Halo and Aliens. Wonder what's going on here.
Or this classic:
noooooooo leave it alone
Blomkamp is actually a pretty good pick for the material. It will almost definitely be a hard R with him attached. I almost kida wish Miller was involved just to see what kind of bizarre shit he'd put in a new robocop movie.
It had one scene that stood out most to me https://youtu.be/yXOhIJg4B7k But it was quickly fell into a generic PG-13 action flick afterwards
The best one. that was what I was referencing https://youtu.be/REItHTPjCF4
