https://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-nato-germany-allies-pressure-defense-spending-brussels-4-percent/ Mr. Trump took a lion's share of the credit for making a "much stronger NATO than it was yesterday" adding that his fellow heads of state were "grateful" to him for drawing more money into the transatlantic alliances' coffers.  French President Emmanuel Macron, however, told reporters in Brussels after Mr. Trump's remarks that NATO member states had made no commitments at this week's summit to increase defense spending beyond the 2 percent of GDP goal which has been in place for almost four years.  "There is a communique that was published yesterday. It's very detailed," said Macron. "It confirms the goal of 2 percent by 2024. That's all." More blatent lies.
Is this retard physically incapable of telling the truth? Or does he genuinely not realize that people can check? I'm starting to think he genuinely can't help it, and this is a sign of dementia if I recall correctly. Yo brain atrophy, do your thang.
The previously agreed 2% is reasoanble (and technically required). 4% isn't going to happen without a very clear and distinct threat.
Trump knows damn well that 4% won't happen, but as long as he keeps threatening our allies and spreading lies, and as long as major media continues to obsess over each fresh outrage, it provides a convenient distraction from the ongoing criminal investigation into Trump's treason. Trump is stupid, but he's not as stupid as everyone thinks; he is absolutely capable of thinking strategically, and he is 100% aware that his avalanche of manufactured controversies are a smokescreen to obscure his numerous criminal acts from the public eye.
Narcissists don't have the relationship with the truth that you and I do. He says whatever he wants at any moment, true or false, to make himself look good and to avoid responsibility or shame for anything negative. He's basically jerking his ego off in public and he'll say anything to keep the self-congratulatory bullshit going. The irony is that the EU handed him a win to crow victory over, that they'll move to the future 2% contribution and that Trump successfully made them do it. But did he accept this and take a victory lap? No, he said NATO has to do more and invented this dumbshit 4% business. He's being handed solutions and discarding them because his real goal is to ruin NATO.
Lyin’ Trump boasts big boost, allies cooperating, but doesn’t bring it at all! WEAK
More like he knows he can say whatever and his supporters will gobble it up
but what about crooked hitlery and her emails? smh focusing on all the wrong things and not giving our elected president the respect he deserves, when we gave that kenyan muslim the same thing /s
I think news stations need to draw more attention to the President's pathological lying. Stop saying soft shit like 'independent sources have been unable to verify the President's statements' and start opening with 'The President lied to millions of Americans again today...' That isn't sensationalism, it's the plain truth.
That would actually be hilarious to have. ”In other news, the President has lied for the 5,791st time today, stating that he was a ‘glabillionare and that Hillary is literally a lizard.’ While cannot cannot confirm the qualifications of Ms. Clinton’s humanity, we can confirm that ‘glabillion’ is not a real numerical value.”
lol truth "show us your birth certificate obama!" -he shows it- "show us your birth certificate obama!" we are unironically post-truth and have been for a while
They really dont. Majority of them get their news from fox news or worse, facebook. Ive seen people source facebook for completely asinine articles that mostly are just from some rando, or straight up fake news.
Part of me wonders if we could at least start using Facebook against them like that. Start pushing more left-wing facts on them, worded just the right way so they'd believe it, and start pushing the window ever so slightly left. But then I get the feeling they'd just ignore it and continue to post whatever stuff they agree with, and ignore anything else.
The 4% demand is absurd as America spends only 3.5%.
Have we ever even seen Trump's birth certificate?
He's moving the goalposts because he's here to throw unreasonable unsatisfiable demands at NATO until it breaks apart as Papa Vlad wants. The problem is that you're basically playing the real-life meme version of Pandemic and you've got to try and get things in past the radar before Madagascar Trumpets detect something isn't right and lock down the borders. The block button is an absolute method of reinforcing the reality bubble. The Internet has become too adept at allowing you to filter out anything you don't see, and assuming people will be mature enough not to do that was always a hopeless endeavour. Social media needs to be banned until we evolve social structures capable of coping with the Internet, we're like toddlers playing with explosive rocket fuel -- it has a purpose but when not handled with care the result is smoking wreckage.
Brings up an interesting point of thought: What sort of legal clusterfuck happens if a sitting president tries to sue a news network for libel when the news network stated only 100% facts?
at that point, he should be out of order enough to throw into a mental asylum, if the laws were any good.
How is it “technically required”?
Nato members are supposed to spend 2% of GDP on defence as part of their collective defence. It's something nearly everyone has been lax on following the Cold War. I probably should have said "supposed" rather than "required". It's not a hard rule as economic conditions can change rapidly.
They've been lax on following it since the cold war because it's a from non-binding agreement back in 2002 or thereabouts (iirc). Here's Wiki's text on the issue: "At the subsequent 2014 Wales summit, the leaders of NATO's member states formally committed for the first time spend the equivalent of at least 2% of their gross domestic products on defence by 2024, which had previously been only an informal guideline." If you by "lax on following" simply mean that NATO countries have lowered their spending, then yeah I guess that's true - but the 2% rule is a fairly new thing as far as I'm concerned.
They had the fear of the USSR to encourage spending. Pretty sure none of them dropped below 2% during the Cold War for any serious length of time.
Yeah sure, but the 2% has never been "technically required" as far as I know - it's been "technically suggested" since the early 2000s, and since 2014 the wording is a bit more concrete.
He realizes that if he tells lies about success, it's effectively the same as actually having success.
