I mean with the massive success of Fortnite, Epic is probably swimming in more cash then they can even manage to spend
If only they reinvested that money into other games, like UT ( or Paragon, rip)
I liked Paragon but it makes no sense to funnel money into a dying game when you have a golden goose to work on instead. They did right by paragon players already.
That much is true. I'm more salty about the new Unreal Tournament, because I really thought it had potential
They basically funneled the entire dev team onto Fortnite's Battle Royale mode. It's not "dead", just left on the backburner with no one to work on it.
I don't blame Epic for their choices considering Fortnite is bringing in just shy of $2bn a year. Hopefully they have some smaller projects lined up. They always have some interesting things to bring to the table.
I blame Epic Games because it was their choice to move everyone over to Battle Royale because lods of emone, the main part about Fortnite's Battle Royale being so popular is that it's free to play, the base game though wasn't very good, good ideas with a bad execution. My main problem now is that whenever someone mentions Fortnite, you know they're on about Battle Royale, not the PvE part.
imo Fortnite BR is much better than Save the World. My young teenage sister is all about Fortnite BR so I've been playing it with her in order to connect with her a little bit and as much flak as I gave it before, it's actually really fun. I still think the shooting mechanics aren't very good but it's a very competent game and pretty fun with friends. I don't think I'll ever play it on my own though.
I never said that the base game was better, it was always a badly executed portion of the game, it was only until Battle Royale was added that the game took off.
As much as i wish they did, you can't just hire a ton of new devs the second you make money. You can increase hires, but you need to do it at a reasonable rate to maintain your studio's coherency and until fortnite stops being an absolutely ungodly money faucet they're gonna stick what new hires they do make where the money is. Hopefully when their staff count catches up with the money we'll see some people on UT.... i fucking hope so.
I never got into fortnite, I just dont get it. You cant even aim down the iron sights, you are shooting someone for half an hour and they go full trump style and build a wall out of blue, fuck that.
Fortnite is fantastic as a containment game. I don't have to worry about its existence, and its playerbase can stay out of easily-accessible games that I like but which they're not suited for, like TF2.
I feel like I’m the only one that actually prefers the save the world mode over the battle royale mode. Battle royale is just so incredibly boring since you spend half the game running to the circle.
