https://www.moddb.com/mods/templargfxs-acm-overhaul/news/the-biggest-bug-in-the-game-is-just-one-letter-long Inside your games config file (My Document\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanEngine.ini) is the following line of code : ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather Im sure you'll notice the spelling mistake ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTether If you fix it to look like the above and then play the game, the difference is pretty crazy! Why is this line important? There are two reasons : 1) AttachXenoToTether doesn't do anything. Its basically empty or stripped 2) AttachPawnToTether does ALOT. It controls tactical position adjustment, patrolling and target zoning When a Xeno is spawned, it is attached to a zone tether. This zone tells the Xeno what area is its fighting space and where different exits are. In Combat, a Xeno will be forced to switch to a new tether (such as one behind you) so as to flank, or disperse so they aren't so grouped up etc. (*disclaimer* this is inferred opinion, I cant see the actual code only bits) That's kind of fucking incredible. Might be 9 months old but I couldn't find any news about this happening anywhere, so I figured now's as good as a time as any. I can believe that someone can make a typo, anyone can. What I can't believe is that no one Gearbox noticed that said typo completely gimped their main enemy AI and just left it as is. What a bunch of incompetent sods.
I'd love to see a comparison video with and without.

Just look at the difference between the warrior and the lurker.
TimeGate did the singleplayer, GBX did the PvP Multi, Nerve did the Co-Op MP.
So Gearbox didn't even develop the game that Randy acted like was his baby that he raised entirely by himself. Incredible.
The thing is that TimeGate initially did the singleplayer, including the demonstration trailers that hooked people in, but Gearbox took the reins back late in the game's development and TimeGate basically had nothing more than bullshots to get people's interest and keep SEGA funding the product. Barely functioning code and gameplay that broke as soon as things went off track, much like the Halo 2 E3 demo of infamy. From there Gearbox rushed everything together to get it functional, so a typo like this may be inexcusable but makes perfect sense as to why it's there. It's basically the same thing that happened with Duke Nukem Forever, except on a much more drastic and broken scale, and under a severe deadline.
Is a thing that even I keep forgetting, but is always the big pressure on the team and the little time they have what cause these problems, is really sad when thinking about it. A flexible and longer development time would be helpful for everyone. At least this mistake can be fixed by modders so is something.
Ah, so the exact thing that happened with DNF
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J8SzBhjqaQ Never forget.
Considering that Duke Nukem Forever was more than 10 years of George Broussard fucking around, I'm not going to 100% blame Randy on this one.

I hate this .gif because everyone has been mislead to believe it's showing the AI being absolutely terrible when that isn't actually the case. The xenomorph walking past the player isn't the AI being shitty, that specific enemy type was supposed to be blind.
I'll defend that level too, it was pretty good. Too bad it's a small it's the only compliment that i can give the game.
Seeing the AI change is night and day. Zenos actually launch themselves at you to kill you. Animations are still wonky but it looks a lot better.
Guns looked nice.
some of its concept art was pretty good https://img00.deviantart.net/0d02/i/2013/054/c/b/acm_by_neisbeis-d5vva91.jpg
'It had good ideas' is always the WORST compliment you can give anything.
Randy Pitchford is a joke and if you know about what he's done, you'd have to be an idiot if you buy anything with his name attached to it
To add onto this, after poking around in the assets personally, I can safy say that ACM has some of the most amazing art assets I've seen in an Aliens game. Beautiful environmental models, dropships and APCs fully rigged for animation and with full interiors, and the work that was put into the guns is nothing short of pure love. This of course, makes it all that more tragic considering how bad the game is.
I miss the idea of what A:CM was meant to be before call of duty aliens edition
I really enjoyed the game, but I played it in Co-oP, definitely worth playing with a friend we had a good laugh.

you sure about this? looks like some half life 2 fullbright mod pic
For me the main thing I like about Aliens Colonial Marines is that they actually got the uniforms for the Marines right. AVP1 had a uniform that looked close, and AVP2 just gave everybody olive drab and plain armor. However there are mods for both games that give them the camouflage from the movie. Plus those games are actually good anyways https://puu.sh/AWnPo/f4681fb7f7.jpg https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/902114506599620674/F9BE598ECC871EA76AB2B62718B531129762BCBF/
Fuckin' Randy "Steam is killing small developers, ignore the fact that I'm literally bankrupting 3 tiny development studios" Pitchford
I still remember when Randy wrote and performed a song about gamergate live. That dude lives in a world totally separate from us.
Gearbox, please, please, please don't fuck up Borderlands 3
They will.
don't give randy your money
