Now that I'm finally in a position to spend money on stupid stuff now and again, I want an Unusual. It's always been such a crazy far-off idea that I never looked into anything. What are your go-to sites or processes for looking up prices and trading?

I always scour between the three above suggested sites, marketplace, backpack's classifieds, and the steam market, as well as Tf2outpost.
Keep in mind that the steam market doesn’t account for different effects. All effects are grouped together by hat.
You also can't really check if a hat is duped or not, in the off chance you may consider reselling it afterwards. They disabled going to the sellers account from the market sometime ago. If you don't care if it's duped or not then it's all good.
I recommend buying from marketplace.tf instead of buying from the steam market. It's easier and cheaper.
Yeah I also find cheaper effects are wildly overpriced on the market. Best to stay on backpack
Well I found a nice seller on the backpack.tf classefieds and no problems so far except for getting the last 6 keys from marketplace...
