“I understand what you’re saying, I’ve asked the same question,” Trump responded. “You know, Montenegro is a tiny country with very strong people. . . . They are very aggressive people. They may get aggressive, and congratulations, you’re in World War III. But that’s the way it was set up. Don’t forget, I just got here a little more than a year and a half ago.” Speech 1000
I love how he doesn't even bother with the tiniest shred of connecting logic. It's just 'Montenegro people are very aggressive, then you have world war 3'.
"we wont help our allies if they go to war"
Damn that escalated quickly.
Trump puts continuous emphasis on Montenegro being tiny while his hands start to slip further and further into his pockets

Oh, now it all makes sense.
Does he hate Montenegro because it has "negro" in its name?
Probably. Secondly, he probably counts it as one of those “shithole countries”.
He hates Montenegro probably because Putin told him in that 2 hour meeting 'Russia should own Montenegro'.
I honestly wonder in those meetings, does Puton even try to be manipulative? Does he just have an itinery of things for Trump to do? Is it like Derek Zoolander being mind-controlled?
Of course he'd fall for a sentence that contains "own" and "negro," lol. I'm not sure he'd have even been conscious of any other words in the sentence.
Is trump actively pursuing appeasement?
It's two things he hates in one. Not only is it an old term for black people, but it's Spanish.
In all seriousness, it's the smallest NATO country that isn't Luxembourg and joined very recently in 2017 after experiencing a coup attempt by Russian and Serbian personnel. I think the intent is "Why should we go to WW3 over this small nation that just joined NATO last year"
That's obviously the intent, but it's still a very dangerous thing to suggest that some nations aren't "worth" protecting. Suggesting that some countries aren't worth protecting if they are attacked undermines one of the fundemental ideas of NATO, i.e. to avoid smaller nations being attacked and annexed in the first place, precicely because of the guarantee that larger nations would come to their aid if they were attacked. The fact that Russia has already attempted a coup in Montenegro just underscores the importance of the rest of NATO reassuring the world that it would protect Montenegro if it were attacked. Starting to spread around the idea that not all NATO nations are worth protecting is seriously scary.
