The Japanese automaker has announced the official debut and the start of sales of the new Leaf Nismo by the end of the month. ... Today, it confirmed that it will go on sale on July 31 in Japan – without details for an international rollout. Nissan LEAF NISMO sport version is officially launching and goin..
Nismo leaf aaaaaaaaaaa
Nismo is such a neat compact. Want one so bad.
That's a nice looking EV. I'd get one.
Nissan will slap a NISMO badge on anything these days.
It makes sense if they are going to put some proper performance (and cooling) in it. Electrified vehicles clearly have an appeal in terms of performance these days. It's just a standard Leaf with some red ascents and the front end being a bit more sporty in terms of looks.
Looks nice, but they should have waited to do it with the 60kWh battery and more powerful motor.
I guess it's probably relatively straightforward to change it out though.
I like the new Leaf, finally doesn't look like it's meant to be a disposable gimmick. They also haven't gone for the ugly as sin blob/flat front end that's devoid of styling like Tesla has redesigned everything with. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/144519/349e58d6-ab7d-430c-93a4-d76222c05903/2018-nissan-leaf-red-front-quarter.jpg
I just wish they would move the charge port from the front.
Are we entering that awkward phase where companies are going to make "sport" versions of a new car style but all it has are some different body parts?
Actually they have done quite a bit to it, much is cosmetic but it's all specifically for the Nismo. https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/07/180719-01_table-e.gif Wheels and tires on an electric car that aren't a tragedy of low rolling resistance cookie cutters and a proper tire size alone would go a long way. It looks like they've actually gone all the way in trying to make it into something actually engaging to drive. Which is a really good thing as I can't actually think of any performance orientated electric vehicle produced yet by a conventional car manufacturer. Teslas have their P100D's or whatever but those are more like a flagship model than a sporty trim.
I like it but I wish auto manufacturers would stop fuckin' with the gear shift. You shouldn't need an illustration to demonstrate how to get out of park. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132565/26d2aa1d-1ed3-48af-880c-30e3c98669a1/Capture.PNG
I like it because of how much it confuses and frustrates car mechanics trying to get it out of park For some of them it seems to take them 20 minutes to figure out they have to push the brake pedal down, and if they want to put it in neutral then all he'll breaks loose. Seriously though, a more intuitive design would be better, and it probably doesn't need to waste so much space on an EV.
modern nissan is such shit
Title had me hoping it was a road-legal Leaf RC, with its sexy aesthetic, 150ish HP and the power going to the rear wheels instead of the wrong ones. It's not, and I'm a bit sad.
Is this a JDM-only car? Why do they keep doing this?
Is it going to be available to the Australian market?
You could probably just go around to one of those places which imports cars like Toyota Alphards and Nissan Elgrands and see if they’ll import one for you.
And electric handbrakes suck. I gotta look to see if the light is on, which I don't trust because electronics and cars aren't exactly the most reliable thing. Also, in my car, it's backwards. Push the button to engage it, pull it up to disengage it. Just give me the lever
The lower spec Leafs have the foot pedal parking brake. It also automatically disengages and re-engages when you shift into drive and accelerate.
*Sport version.* So basically unless you're getting that package don't expect it to look this good.
The regular version has been out for awhile as seen above: https://insideevs.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/6-2.jpg
It looks like, a car. The kind you'd steal in GTA because you can't see a sports car anywhere and that's your least-hated of the normal cars.
So what? This isn’t an enthusiast car. It’s a normal boring car to get normal boring people to use an electric car on their normal boring commute. It’s better it looks like a regular car, that way it doesn’t intimidate people.
Kind of the point, it looks like what electric cars should look like, instead of the edgefest 3000s that some companies have tried to push.
But the new Leaf looks pretty good tbh. Nismo looks even better
