ESA Marathon is starting in 21 hours from this post, prepare to watch plenty of games get demolished over the coming weekend (and week).
Schedule is available at https://esamarathon.com/schedule - the event's starting off at 16:00 CEST the 20th with a Dark Souls III All Bosses race.

Just updating to say that the stream's online now, and will be going until the end of the event.
The second stream is up now too, so remember to check the schedule for both streams so that you don't miss any of the runs you might be interested in.
Didn't expect coop GeoGuessr to be this funny
If you try watching the GeoGuessr VOD on the Speedrunning Reddit, it takes you to this video

It's amazing how many of the runs incorporate glitches or routes that in places are just days old.
The speedrunning communities certainly don't slack off.
is this the fun version of AGDQ? the one not filled with extremely questionable hosts who declare that fun is not allowed.
Can we stop doing this, the last couple of GDQs were fine. The no-fun-allowed peaked and has been on a significant decline since.
Every speedrunning event thread somebody has to get their totally original zinger in and it's getting tiresome.
So far every VOD I've watched has been more awkward and stilted than anything GDQ had.
Less "l-o-l aren't we gamers though" jokes. Less, well, talking. Apart from the STALKER run where they just gave zero fucks and it was pretty enjoyable overall.
GDQ is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be anyway lmao, being more careful about what people say comes with the territory of being a multi-million charity donor with sponsorships.
Last year's AGDQ and SGDQ were fucking awful. They went full censor mode and sucked all the fun out of the event. This year's AGDQ and SGDQ were fucking great, the production values were the best they're ever been, they didn't have unreasonable tech issues, and they let the runners actually make jokes and have fun.
ESA this year is also a marked improvement with better production, a venue that isn't stupid, and a schedule that isn't "Maybe they'll show up."
Personally a massive fan of the large number of races and co-op runs they have lined up, been really nice watching those.
And on that note, the ibb & obb co-op run ended up getting a new WR by 22 seconds.
In this Nier run the crowd clapped when the 2Booty came out.
The God of War run had some nice reactions when actually speedrunning the sex scene in the beginning as well.
And I can now confidently state that if you want to watch any of the vods, have a look at the 30 minute Awful Games block.
Fifteen games, 30 minutes, one developer on stream. Well worth it.
They're about to do the Super Mario 64 70-star 70-man relay race again this year, except it's a race so now it's a 142-man race between two teams.
The Mario race is just as much of a mess as I expected. 1:30:00 in of a two hour estimate and only one team is up to 50 stars.
Some of these players have a hard time running in a straight line. I think they may go a little over estimate.
Despite that the race has managed to consistently even out and has remained remarkably close for the majority of the run because every time somebody takes a lead they inevitably get somebody who sucks hard enough to close the gap.
ESA is over and it was pretty good. A few too many RPGs and long ass open world games for my taste, but still a lot of good runs.
Here's the reddit VoD thread if anyone is interested in watching any of the runs.
You guys should check out the beyblade run. It sounds like a meme, but the game is a really cool speed game.
I enjoyed the Binding of Isaac race, had several good commentators and had enough going on at one time that it never got dull
