Who cares? This was never about being allowed to kneel during the anthem

Why sportball man no stand?
the amount of false patriotism is absolutely disgusting.
I feel like this whole thing would've passed faster if the people who were angry about it just ignored it. By being outraged you're just fueling it more. Sorta like a streisand effect
The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!
Mr. Trump, being President of the USA doesn't mean you are personally allowed to decide everything in the USA. You are not allowed to fire NFL players.
People in power made it a bigger deal because it's a useful tool. The Republican nominee running for Governor of Georgia is using 'standing for the flag' as a reason to vote for him for example.
Said it before I'll say it again
wtf is the point of patriotism if it's forced
this is honestly embarrassing. such an extremely over the top response and just feels forced as well, not to mention completely missing the point yet again of why this all started in the first place
This is exactly the streisand effect. :V
"then get out"
Calling all the whining patriotism is an insult to everyone who actually cares about the country. This is just blind cult worship of a colored piece of cloth and air being blown through a bunch of trumpets, there's no principle behind it, it's just pure adherence to a tradition that everyone forgot the point of. Then again, this is the same country where separatist traitors are celebrated as patriots equal to their vanquishers.
Trying to explain to my father that these individuals aren't kneeling during the anthem because they hate America/our troops.
Still never got through to him.
Whilst I understand it, I have to stop myself from feeling it sometimes because I recognise that it's more a product of our evolutionary ancestry than anything - in-group bias being favoured would have made close-knit communities more likely to defend one-another and that will have been extremely useful in our pasts. I abhor nationalism, but I get why it exists and do feel a sense of vicarious accomplishment when a national sports team from my country wins something, even though I recognise how illogical that is.
