And here I thought it was going to be like 2 tweets taken MASSIVELY out of context
what the fuck lmao
Lessons learned here: never use Twitter.
Social media was a mistake.
Devils advocate, these honestly just look like a guy with a classless sense of humor.

Times sure have changed in 8 years, but 8 years ago, if everyone knew he was trying to be funny, these would hardly be admonished.
someone dig some more digging on that

Are these "jokes" in the same way that those university students in England who got kicked out made rape "jokes?" C'mon, these aren't even funny - they're just dumb.
My vote is for Taika Waititi to take over Guardians 3
Or, you know, if you do, make sure you wipe the slate as clean as you can before it actually comes to light.
I mean, they're really awful as heck and he has a really nasty sense of humor, but why didn't they drop his ass years ago (when these were fresh on his page) until now?

I don't know this guy or give a shit about this controversy whatsoever but those posts are obviously intending to be edgy for funny points.
Thor Ragnarok already had the tone of a Guardians movie anyway.
Because a few years ago he wasn't constantly talking about Trump on his twitter.
I love Guardians 1 & 2, and it's hard to imagine anyone else being at the helm other than Gunn, but Waititi definitely has the kind of humor and direction fit of Guardians, can definitely see him take over.
And I just want to see more of Korg & Miek too please
Not sure what's worse: the creepy jokes or the fact that there are people out there that dig through people's tweets looking for something to get offended by.
The first and last thing I need in a marvel film is the generic kiwi accent.
MMMMMMMMMM YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm inclined to believe him - after all, he wrote a scene where Ellen Page rapes somebody in one movie, so he's got a pretty bizarre sense of humour.
It's tasteless humor but Disney has the right to hire or fire whomever they want. I'm not going to read much into the tweets themselves and conclude that these are his innermost thoughts and deeply held beliefs.
I wait so eagerly for #WalkAway to be a distant fucking memory of the right's insufferable assault on social media, fuck sake
This is the same guy that wrote Tromeo & Juliet. His whole career was built on offensive humor and if Disney will boot him for some old, offensive Tweets they should have booted him for his older movies too.
Half of these tweets are kind of funny, the other half are creepy, but really only when taken out of context and compiled together.
I'm surprised this didn't come to light earlier but I'm not surprised someone like him made jokes like that on twitter 8-10 years ago, that sort of humour was pretty common back then. Bear in mind that at the time, he was making dark adult comedies, not family friendly-ish Disney movies and probably had waaay less followers.
No? I mean they're still tasteless, stupid jokes but they're not even remotely on the same plane of existence as those British kids who were literally just saying "women deserve to get raped, they're useless sluts all of them. Rape is good boys".
man I really hate to say this but you guys sure are fucking sensitive to some jokes, this is why it's so easy for people to get their characters assassinated.
I'm looking forward to the day where people chill the fuck out and stop posting out of context compilations and wailing "I CAN'T EVEN!!!!!!". Imagine if all the dumb bullshit you posted in the past was constantly leveraged against you.
Middle schooler ass jokes from a middle aged man.
That doesn't seem to be the case. Fox News (archive) is stating that these tweets were dug up by critics of his political beliefs and being an outspoken critic of the current US President.
This is silly and in the end, nobody really benefits from this. All I can ask is "why"?
