• DC tries to revoke Trump liquor license; "applicants must be of good character"

Could the Trump hotel lose its liquor license because of the pre.. Last week, an Advisory Neighborhood Commission voted unanimously to support a petition that seeks to revoke the Trump International Hotel’s liquor license on the grounds that its owner — you know, the president of the United States — is not of “good character.” The ANC is not even the one where the luxury hotel is located. During its July 11 meeting, the commissioners of ANC 4C — which represents Petworth, Columbia Heights and other neighborhoods north of Trump’s downtown property voted 8 to 0 to support a complaint that looks to strip the hotel of its liquor license. In June, a group of religious and judicial leaders petitioned the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to force the Trump hotel to justify why it should keep its alcohol permit when D.C. law states that license applicants must be of “good character and generally fit for the responsibilities of licensure.” “It is our considered view that Donald Trump, the true and actual owner of the Trump International Hotel, is not a person of good character, doesn’t meet the D.C. Code … requirements and therefore the license should be revoked,” ANC 4C chairman, Bennett Hilley, and vice chair, Charlotte Nugent, wrote in a letter to the director of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration. (The emphasis, incidentally, was the authors’.)
That’s one way to lose business
If the requirements for being president is less than maintaining a liquor licence; you know something's wrong.
It'll happen, but then he'll try some stupid shit like passing an EO reinstating it, because of the reason "well I am the president, so... " and nobody will do anything about it
Imagine if being president is the very thing that actually bankrupts Trump for a 7th time.
But businesses have the right to serve whoever they want, right?
if this isn't the textbook definition of virtue signaling then i don't know what is
Those people are president of the united states and are held a a lower regard than a average joe. I mean trump asks for shit like this to happen when he pisses himself mad over little shit like this and screams on twitter for 4 hours.
Source for that claim?
who owns a liquor store that separates parents from their children? Oh, literally no one who isn't in jail
Hey remember when everyone used to make fun of people for doing the most petty shit to get back at Obama? Why are people doing the exact same shit to trump? Don't get me wrong Trump sucks but really that's how we are gonna stick it to Trump, removing liquor licences?

Apples and oranges. I can guarantee you trump does not personally serve liquor to people himself. The people who manage the bars in his hotels are completely separate from his personal views.
Depends if you consider traitors to be of good character.
Its more like poking him directly. Obama ignored stupid shit like this, but its fun seeing him get pissed on twitter about how shit some person/place/thing is when they poke him a little. Like the restaurant that kicked sanders out and trump went on twitter to attack it saying it was disgusting and dirty. Meaning the president of the united states announced that his press secretary willingly ate at an "disgusting, dirty store".
Why do some of you guys do this? What's the point of calling someone out for a single post? Fuckin bits of Facepunch likes to feel like they're a much more mature community, so much more so than Reddit or NeoGaf, but then proceed to fling shit at each other for 50 pages because of one-off comments like that.
Plus the whole sending kids to camps thing kinda makes him scum compared to any other president.
I'm sorry "calling someone out" with a moderately snarky response without having waited for an uncertain quantity of posts has so tarnished the good name of Garry "Cum in Her Vag" Newman's Source mod forum for you.
eh it could be an act of congress though the gop probably wouldn't want to be put through actually defending his businesses on the floor. an EO can't do it.
Trump shouldn't care about his business at all, his sons are handling it.
Any shit I throw at him is based upon the fact his government violates human rights left and right, and is actively attacking every nation it's ever been friends with and befriending Russia in a clear and obviously influenced manner.
The people that serve the liquor aren't the ones who have the license. Liquor licenses are to the establishment, not the individual. Trump, as owner of the establishment, is being held accountable.
oh you poor fool where does the overwhelming majority of profit that comes from his hotels go to? trump taking away that profit does what? take profit from trump taking profit away from people is the only historically proven way to enact effective change because there will always be people who wouldn't give an absolute shit if the ICE was beheading Mexican children on live TV, but if their taxes go up 1% it's a fucking outrage
Amusing as it is this sets a shitty precedent.
fascist bartenders everywhere quake in their jackboots
Isn't that just Donald Trump?
