I remember being so amazed with this game as a kid, even though I practically couldn't get past the first few levels and didn't really know what I was doing. The whole arm and aiming stuff while usually cited as clunky nowadays, was and still is one of my favorite charming things about it, along with the fact it had so many tech ahead of its time like the physics, early forms of bumpmapping, specular highlights and some neat particle effects and water refractions. I guess VR shooters kind of took over the concept of the free-hand movement and all, but I'm kind of curious of having a modern game have a take on the free-hand controls this game had too. Also since it's abandonware, Gggmanlives linked a fully working patched version for modern systems of Trespasser from the comments here Just tested it myself and it's just an easy installation process and works right out of the box. Even supports modern resolutions up to 4k and so
This website is pretty good when it comes to getting old games working on modern systems.
I just checked it out further and hot dang it even has arcade games and old games I remember playing but forgot the name of as a kid, this is awesome!
Wasn't it possible to shoot yourself in this game if you aimed the gun correctly?
my parents had this game and the sims for the old beige box, my first video games.
I played the demo of this fucking religiously as a kid. The dinosaurs were the coolest shit, the way you moved and aimed the guns and all of that were pretty unique and kept me interested, and I found out you could edit the level for the demo in free level editor, and spend a lot of time moving shit around (such as finding out there was a trex way at one end of the map just sitting there, and moving it and watching it fuck up the raptors that were down below). Once I snagged a full copy, there were some pretty damn creative modded levels floating around out there that I loved as well, including a really fucking good total conversion mod. Hot damn in all honestly Trespasser was the shit, and I kind of wish we'd get something like it again now. I never could play this game properly because I was too scared of the Raptors to really get that far into it, might have to give it a go though at some point.
Still have this game on CD. When I finally mustered the courage to play the game beyond the 1st raptor I had a blast. Janky in many ways, but entertaining nonetheless. Also I remember killing raptors by gently rubbing them with a chair.
I remember checking this game out when I was obsessed with physics games as a kid. As janky as it was, I thought the way you were able to pick stuff up in this was really cool.
This review was ok I guess, better than his others by far, but it still felt lacking. I recommend people watch Research Indicates playthrough of the game. He goes into more detail about the game and peppers his gameplay with interesting tidbits. At this point though the videos are fucking ancient, almost 10 years old, so they are low res. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6A3SaRr26M&list=PL0058A651EB882B48&index=1
Strangely this is one of those games where the clunkiness adds to the charm. Mostly in how fluid and lanky the animations and the gun handling is.
Can't seem to get the game working on my Win10 machine. Plays the intro cinematic, and then cuts to a black screen with audio.
I played part of this game on a old demo disk I had for my PC. The controls were so weird and confusing I thought I was playing wrong - wondering why her arm was moving but not her head.
the dinos look so cute! they're like fat chickens trying to walk around and give you very big hugs
That LP and Shadefyre's LPs are pretty sweet. Shadefyre looks at some stuff that is normally broken and hidden, and also he has a ton of videos on fan missions for Trespasser.
There's two patches on the PCGamingWiki to fix the game and add/fix DX9 support.
Low Res on YouTube is 720p?
You know what a friggin mean, the footage itself is literally low res.
You know to this day a video game has never filled me with dread, suspense and adrenaline from being chased by a t-rex and praying to god I make it into the inside of a structure in time.
The health meter is a tattoo on your boobs... … jesus Christ, that sounds like something out of a porn game. I mean props for being clever and I'm really the last person to complain about such a thing but isn't that a bit... exploitive?
On the flip side, if there was a game out there where a male character that a dick or abs that doubled as a lifebar, i wouldn't have any problem with that.
I think it's just a way to get past displaying health in a game with no HUD, without CoD inventing jelly on your screen yet.
It's pretty interesting that a female video game character having huge boobs in a game this early actually have gameplay reason
I honestly think that they should have gone with that approach. I'm usually the last person to complain about this, but you're looking down your characters rack for your health bar. Arguably, your vision going red would be more 'realistic' then disappearing boob ink.
This is what Duke Nukem Forever was missing
i'm visualizing a game set in a dominatrix controlled area and you play as a masochist, and the more they punish you the more erect you get until game over
owo
Yup, but jello-on-screen wasn't invented as a concept yet. Hell, health-bars that weren't either a bar with pips or a 0-100 scale were super rare and uncharted territory at the time.
You can get the Jurassic Park arcade games to work on PC? If its possible to run them on PC it'd be such a trip!
