Finally, please.
They should be rolling nearly all of the restriction back to pre-9/11 levels anyway. Most of it is just security theatre.
oh great so you can be routinely bombarded with more radiation every time you go through the airport!
Even worse... They'll check and judge how big our dicks are with this technology!
Usually you shouldn't be crawling into the X-Ray machine
“Is that the sound of a Geiger counter or my lifespan counting down? It's both!”
I don't know that I agree, wasn't it shitty airport security in Egypt that allowed IS to bomb Metrojet Flight 9268 a couple of years ago?
Shitty (and probably corrupt) airport security isn't really comparable to the security found the the West pre-9/11.
keyword there is "In Egypt" my friend. you might be surprised to hear that hardly any non-North American countries did not implement anywhere near as many security measures compared to the United States. in Germany, you still don't have to take off your shoes and you never did. hell, the United States specifically bans flights to certain countries because their security measures are not even close to the DHS' standards.
Here at airport security, when we talk about halfe life, we mean it in more ways than one!
my dad got pulled into a interrogation room once because they detected radiation on him
I don't really know what the arrangements were pre-9/11, how did it work/how did it differ from now?
From what I can remember, you just put your bag through the x-ray and stepped through a metal detector. Didn't need to take off jackets or shoes or take out laptops/other electronics/liquids.
Finally, I can bring my 6 bags of Chickie's and Pete's cheese dip on flights again.
And the cockpit door would be unlocked/open so you could go shoot the breeze with the pilots if you felt like it.
And you could go through terminal security without a plane ticket to tell people goodbye or to greet local flights right at the gate.
One time I helped a family member store luggage in the overhead compartment of an airplane when I wasn't even flying
I remember I got pulled aside because I had a little cloth for wiping my glasses in my pocket last time I flied.
Like come on man.
If you can wipe your glasses, what's to prevent you from wiping out a whole city?
That would be nice, US airport security is a huge pain in the ass. Hell I got to basically strip down to my draws when flying in full military uniform once because they couldn't figure out why I kpt setting off the metal detector (Protip: medals are made of metal). Right now I only take solace knowing that some poor sap behind the full body scanner has to see the outline of my dong.
bet you they'll keep the restrictions around for another 10 years just to say "fuck you"
I'd like to hear this story.
No but the shitty and lazy airport security pre-9/11 is what allowed it to happen in the first place. A LOT of steps and checks were bypassed or ignored to allow 9/11
