I seriously can't get over how fucking goofy the eyes look

Cyberpunk 2077 is lookin' good
meh.
Apparently this is based off of a manga. Why would you keep her horrible "anime" eyes while everyone else is realistic? What an awful design choice, it's enough to turn me off completely.
I don't understand how you get this far with a movie without at some point going; "Wait a sec, our main character is kinda' uncanny looking".
big bambi eyes on an otherwise normal looking face is too goofy, either just use the actress or go all the way and make the chipmunk-cheeked cgi anime babe we all crave
might be alright either way, BAA is dope and rodriquez makes fun movies sometimes
It's simple really: you be James Cameron.
I think the main saving grace for this movie is having Rodriguez around because stuff directed by him is usually quite entertaining to watch. I am still wondering how much the rest of the film holds up and if it is just those fucking eyes though. Yikes.
I feel like it'd be a bit less offputting if she wasn't the only one with the problem. Like if they used that stylization on everyone. Still weird but I mean it at least wouldn't draw so much attention.
That or it would make it look even fucking weirder I really don't know.
I think they made a point in the manga that her face was uncanny with exaggerated features because she was an android. Being anime style among real people seemed to be the implication (because nerds always love that shit) so this is technically right probably. doesn't mean it's any more aesthetic to look at, went a notch too far rearranging a realistic face
It seems some of the newer scenes in the trailer may have toned it down or played off better angles so I'm gonna remain hopeful that they're just using the most "whoa look at her WEIRD FACE!" scenes of the movie for the commercials
eyes are goofy, but otherwise looks fun enough. i'll probably go see it
Its not just the eyes. The shot where she jumps is 2005 tier uncanny, weightless CG. I mean itd have been fine if everything looked like that but shes in the same shot as real actors and looks like a monster.
If you want to do anime stuff in realistic VFX go all the way and make an anime body as well. Dont try to mix it with vaguely human proportions. And dont put it next to real actors lol.
They didn't even need to enlarge those eyes if they wanted to make it anime, just make the cornea and pupil shiny as fuck.
Looks like a cliche plot dressed up with with extensive CGI.
I think it looks perfectly fine. They have finally made anime real, the mad men.
Mega-bomb incoming.
It wouldn't be a James Cameron film otherwise
I think it's a desire to be faithful to the source material. From what I recall, James Cameron is a real big fan of the manga.

But I don't think he realizes that when you take something that is fairly abstracted (most cartoons) and make it photo realistic, it just looks too weird. Tintin had the same problem, so this isn't a thing that is exclusive to James Cameron

This is the most off-putting CGI effect in a movie I'm going to watch on opening night TO DATE.
Guess the idea is since she's an android. And a nod to the source material, but the execution has left a lot to be desired.
I don't find this off putting and somehow find this interesting
I guess I'm the weird one here this time.
That makes two of us. IMO if it's the eyes that really kill this cyberpunk sci-fi fantasy universe for you, i've got bad news for you. People are weird sometimes. Like, That's the weirdest point to bail imo. It's quite clear that the uncanny valley design is very deliberate.
I wonder if it would be better if the rest of her face wasn't so human. Like if it was one of those creepy anime masks. At least then you would know it was supposed to be creepy.
I was expecting to laugh my ass off cuz I'd already seen the pictures before but this looks fine in motion and the movie looks ok
I'm surprised I'm the only one to comment on how much work the digital artists have cut out for them over the next four months, when it comes to cleaning up the CGI.
Because the CGI in the action sequences looks terrible right now. I think Phantom Menace's CG looks better than it.
And usually I'm not one to notice or critique CG in films. But those action sequences just look baaaaad.
If this trailer was released a few months ago, I wouldn't be so concerned. But with only 4 months left to polish it up... Well, we'll have to see what the final trailers look like.
Considering what CGI looks like in most of Robert Rosrigues’s movies, even as it is now it’s quite the step up
