A Replicator...
If for some reason a player cannot get the needed blueprint's required to forge a piece, a Replicator will duplicate that piece for double the material cost.
Sometimes a random bonus occurs and you receive an xtra piece.
Thoughts...
idea itself is interesting....but not sure how it fits within the lore?
And maybe the cost might need to be tweaked to 3x, (if not 4x) so its not abused too much...
