He's complaining about the government giving out free needles and providing safe spaces for drug users. The fuck is the government supposed to do aside from that? There's no magic solution for drug use, all successful campaigns are based on harm reduction. If the government does not provide help in the form of clean needles and assistance to prevent overdoses, it'll just result in more drug-related deaths with no effect or negative effect on drug use in general.

Fuck my city. Nobody who works in Vancouver can afford to live there, and it's getting so bad that people who once lived in the rim-towns are moving 1-2 hours away to cheaper towns and just working there; the commute is too brutal for not enough money. Somehow my husband and I found a lower level of a house in West Van for $1175 with a back yard and our own laundry, after a month of homelessness. How the fuck? We couldn't find a place for two months of searching, going to maybe 50+ viewings, and got 4 calls back (one of which was our new place!). I also love my city.

Oh I would never leave the city, I absolutely love it, it's just incredibly broken. Of all the amazing things here to be seen and had, the real estate and the traffic are the two biggest problems a city could have and it still feels worth it. My dad was a real estate agent in the 80s, a pretty successful one, but he's seen the market explode/implode a few times and each time was devastating to him/us. Now he lives 5 hours away with his wife cause they can't afford to be here, and they're in their 60s making good money, just not yuppie money.
I'm trying to get a room for under a G right now, but actually getting a lease on an empty apartment is pretty much out of the question for regular people right now. But it's not hard to make $18 an hour with no skill in SF so regular people can still exist there somewhat.
