• Denuvo hunted down Voksi

So, as many of you noticed, REVOLT is down since yesterday and redirecting to some bullshit site. It finally happened, I can't say it wasn't expected, Denuvo filed a case against me to the bulgarian authorities. Police came yesterday and took the server pc and my personal PC. I had to go to the police afterwards and explain myself. Later that day I contacted Denuvo themselves and offered them a peacful resolution to this problem. They can't say anything for sure yet, but they said the final word is by the prosecutor of my case. Sadly, I won't be able to do what I did anymore. I did what I did for you guys and of course because bloated software in our games shouldn't be allowed at all. Maybe someone else can continue my fight. If you you are a lawyer or someone who wants to fight, or just someone who wants to express his feelings, you can contact me currently over the RVT Discord of personally on Discord - Voksi#3486. It's bullshit guys, I know, but that's how the world is run nowdays. By evil. Source: Reddit
can we delete denuvo
He fucked up by letting his fame get to him and dropped his cover. He was posting on reddit with his VPN off, so he got busted. He's not gonna win any legal battles, purely because he's going to get outfunded.
This concludes your yearly reminder to use best opsec practices and to practice compartmentalization when fiddling with the code of major corporate entities like Denuvo especially when you're as high profile as Voksi. guarantee it was someone he trusted who informed on him or who was an infiltrator representing Denuvo/their legal counsel. That's almost always how these people get unmasked outside ofnot taking adequate steps to separate their online presence from their real own or dubiously legal law enforcement operations.
He posted on reddit without a VPN.
Denuvo reported a crime to the authorities*
For those who don't know who Voksi is (as I did not either until thirty seconds ago): DRM maker Denuvo has seemingly filed suit against one of the scene’s most prolific crackers. Voksi reports that “Denuvo filed a case against me to the Bulgarian authorities,” with police seizing his personal and server PCs, leading to the shutdown of the website for scene group Revolt. We spoke with Voksi last year, when Denuvo cracks were coming at their fastest, and at the time the feeling was that protected games would continue to get cracked ever more quickly. With one of the scene’s most prominent crackers apparently out of commission, those circumventions will likely slow down for the foreseeable future. The arms race between DRM makers and pirates has left plenty of questions for legitimate game buyers. There remain questions about how much effect DRM has on game performance, with Assassin’s Creed Origins proving a particularly combustible example, and niche instances like Metal Gear Rising on Mac have left some wondering if DRM will keep them from playing their games in the future. ...by hunting down voski.
While shitty, I doubt Denuvo isn't gonna stop getting cracked anytime soon.
Yes, the same way any other criminal is reported by those who are wronged by them.
It's too early for me to be solving riddles like this
'('(T))
Not-so-local man gets caught breaking the law, many outraged How? Did they themselves organize the police raid? Did they themselves coordinate with reddit admins to get his un-VPN'd IP? Did Denuvo do literally anything other than report this man to the authorities?
You don't understand. The law only applies when I agree with it! /s
ugh drm monopoly yet again they are never going to let go of him. rip
It's bullshit guys, I know, but that's how the world is run nowdays. By evil. Seriously, what the fuck did he expect? He broke the law, had stupid opsec, and now is paying the price for it. And "hunted down", please. I really enjoy the RE aspect of piracy and all that, but dont act shocked when you get caught and served.
He was fighting the good fight, though. People paying good money for a product then having to jump through hoops and suffer performance loss due to greed's desperate grip is something that should be fought. I've been burnt my DRM in the past before, ruining an optical drive and a game disc. I'm against all of it. The only hoop to jump through to use software or play a game should be the exchange of money, end of story
"It's bullshit guys, I know, but that's how the world is run nowdays. By evil." Okay, I know DRM doesn't have the best track record, let alone Denuvo, but this is some of the biggest horse shit I've seen this year.
Lmao if you look up the list of games using Denuvo on wikipedia, they've got a column for "cracked" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denuvo#List_of_games_using_Denuvo
Doesn't matter if he was fighting the good fight. I understand why overbearing DRM like Denuvo is a pain. But he is acting all surprised and hurt when he gets his just deserts. Here is how you truly fight. Don't fucking buy the product. I know I know its hard when thousands and millions of others are going to buy it, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.
I mean, you can, it's just illegal. Sometimes fighting the good fight means breaking the law. Voksi got "ethics" and "law" confused.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Now I really want to know who's brilliant idea was to use Denuvo on a free game.
There's plenty of valid criticisms of Denovo but performance isn't really one of them. The instances of poor performance with Denovo were related to retarded devs having no idea what they were doing. One of them I recall being something like 1000 licensing checks for every single frame rendered. On the flip side the shitty ass licensing checks requiring an internet connection for even a singleplayer game are complete and utter bullshit. And if their licensing servers ever go down then you're fucked despite having paid for the game.
Denuvo is garbage DRM that hurts actual paying consumers. I've used his cracks on real, retail copies of games.
People tend to downplay the significance of crimes committed over the internet. You can see it with DDoS attacks; people have no idea the severity of the crime they're committing.
Let's hope he doesn't sell out others.
Denuvo has one of the best track records for delaying piracy of games past the critical launch window. Is it perfect? Obviously not -- if it's software it can be hacked. But numerous high-profile games have been crack-free for the most crucial points of their sales period. That makes it worth it for the publisher. I'd argue that they should remove Denuvo once a crack has been released and is easily available to pirates, but Denuvo is absolutely useful for publishers.
if you're going to go that route then at least advocate for an organized boycott instead of furthering the "vote with your wallet" meme. You can't place yourself on a moral high-ground based on an alternative that you yourself admit is totally pointless.
You would expect people involved in the DRM RE scene would not share their personal details with each other. It's a basic thing for the more shady areas of RE. Handles aren't massively useful as these guys don't exactly keep those quiet in the first place.
Of course. An organized boycott is the correct way to go. Still my point still stands. Vote with your wallet and get others to too.
