I've been lurking here for an extremely long time but never posted, since I didn't think I could contribute much to the discussions going on here. But I've been seeing people post their own projects in this section, and that finally gave me the courage to do this.
I know video essays are a dime a dozen, but I hope that I've strayed from the formula enough to be entertaining. Please, do not hesitate to give me feedback
The thing is that I'm never bored of video essays if it is brief, concise, entertaining and agreeable without extreme bias.
Nonetheless, please occasionally pause and let visual aid do part of the talking. I just watched your Remember Me vid, for example, you mentioned the music intensity syncing with player performance, but you never show it, and moves on to the next point almost immediately. I have no time to digest nor see any evidence to support your claims.
There are other things I want to add, but one step at a time. Bring the next video for another feedback.
That was really well done!
Maybe talk a bit slower, you were kind of rushing it at the beginning. Also, please check your audio levels, they're all over the place (-12db at the end there, wow).

I don't like having to readjust my volume every minute, so maybe use a compressor on your speech next time.
Other than that, it was a really good video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! I will definitely strive to let the game speak for itself more. That is, if the audio doesn't get ruined by the recording software when I tackle the next game.
Recommendations for recording technique would be to check your levels while recording. Most recording software has a live VU-Meter build in, that way you pretty much notice right away when you've moved too far away from your mic. Since you're probably recording your voiceover in multiple takes, don't change your setup (mic gain and position) between takes.
As for software recommendations, you can pretty much use whatever you like. I'd probably just stick to your video editing software. That should provide the ability to monitor your levels and add normalization/compression to your voice.
Check your levels after exporting; all audio tracks will have been reduced to a single stereo track. That makes it easy to see any long-time volume changes over the course of your video.
Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games ever, but Catalyst never grabbed me, guess because of it's Ubisoft style open world busywork, but good video!
Wish DICE made more single player games.
Most single player games from DICE have been buggy piles of shit in the recent games.
Their focus on war stories in battlefield have been wise decisions for the franchise at least. But every time I go into one of their single player content, I go in expecting the worst.
In fairness BF1's War Stories were the best tutorial disguised as a competent single-player campaign I've ever played. So there are gems in the trash.
Nice video, not gonna lie it's actually making me want to go play it now, you described the feeling of running in ME well (although I have never played Catalyst)
