there was an underground nest outside one of our doors and i had to dig it up after pouring boiling water in it
I'm kind of disturbed that he considers this a small nest when its easily 5 times the size of any I've seen on my house.

What kind of wasps are those? The kind near my area start stinging when you go anywhere close to the hive.

Yeah I always had the fun task of dealing with wasps when I worked at the stables since there were no other takers
After two nests I couldn't be arsed so I just put on my work gloves and crunched a bunch with my hands, the crunching noise is both satisfying and super disgusting.
Not to mention the queens are fucking massive.
I've had to do this before out of necessity as wasps like to try and start nests in between the doors of my car. I'll open a door and see a few of the fuckers and a little nest near the hinge.

Or just buy a $9 can of Wasp Freeze from the hardware store or ag store. But I guess England won't let you have anything even remotely dangerous so I guess you have to kill hornets with plastic bags lol.
