I'm surprised that North Korea would do this but way WAY more surprised that they kept the bodies. I'd have figured they'd be in a ditch somewhere.

It's more so a matter of, if you claim to hate America with a burning passion and run anti-American propaganda on TV 24/7, why on Earth wouldn't you have destroyed the bodies years ago?
Unlikely answer, but North Korea knows how to wheel and deal; it's entirely possible they thought "this will be useful one day". That's what they do when they imprison Americans who tour North Korea; they arrest them as bargaining chips.
But I think most likely the Americans were in some mass grave somewhere. It's totally possible they dug up a mass grave though
Honestly, I find each of your speculations equally likely North Korea is an interesting (albeit depressingly so) specimen
I wonder if they’re legit. I guess we’ll hear if they aren’t when DNA tests are done.
