Disneyland agrees to raise worker pay to $15 an hour by 2019

Unions representing nearly 10,000 Disneyland workers accepted Disney's three-year contract to raise starting hourly wages to $15 an hour beginning next year. The agreement ends a lengthy labor battle over pay at Disney's Anaheim resort.
Minimum wage employees at Disneyland made $11 an hour. The deal immediately raises their pay 20% to $13.25 an hour. The $15 starting rate will go into effect on January 1, 2019. It will go up to $15.45 in June of 2020.
Disney said an employee making $11 today would earn an additional $8,000 a year.
The deal puts Disney on track to reach California's mandatory $15 an hour minimum wage three years before it goes into effect. It covers union workers in Disneyland jobs like attractions, store operations, custodial, costume, and transportation and parking.
The labor fight got a public boost from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who pressured Disney to raise wages for workers in California and Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Sanders traveled to Anaheim last month and spoke at a rally that hundreds of Disneyland workers attended.

About time they did this, rallies have been going on for well over a year now.
and then raises rent on employees using disney housing
damn it if only my family didn't move to Texas.
you do realize anaheim doesn't have any employee housing afaik right
$15 minimum wage is great until you remember that California's housing market is GOD awful lol.
Would go a lot farther in Florida, probably.
i'm so glad our unions finally started doing stuff for us this year. i no longer get pennies standing in the sun all day, operating heavy machinery, and getting yelled at by angry parents. i now make dimes!
At least your not in Florida where everything you said is still true except you didn't get a raise and alligators
Unions in Florida are also in talks with Disney World, Disney is willing to oblige $15 minimum wage in Florida as well, however they are still in negotiations
There are terms in Disney's latest proposal that are a no-go for the union, Clinton said.
They include rules that would affect how the employees are paid for working overtime and holidays, and change how their schedules are made.
Hopefully they can come to some kind of agreement. Housing in the area isn’t as bad as California but still needs a fair bit of income.
I love going to Disney World but I agree that their pay structure for their employees is incredibly outdated. Especially for how ragged they run them.
Don't forget the sex orgies! They go for the sex orgies too.
Thanks for Bernie Sanders to make Disney improving minimum wage for workers.
I wouldn't give him all the credit, but it says a lot that he continues to fight around the country. That man should have been president
