Long time Star Wars fan and I have absolutely zero interest in this, not really sure what episode 8 was meant to be setting up? We know Rey and Kylo are going to do a thing, and the ship full of resistance will probably have some sort of story, but this trilogy seems so broken up so far. The fact they've had different writers on episode 7 and 8 shows how little Disney care about the story, and the fact most questions set up in episode 7 where written off as nothing means it's really hard to give a shit. I can only imagine with JJ back for episode 9 there's going to be a lot retcons of things said in episode 8 Still, i'll see it because I saw the other two, but after that I probably won't have much interest in Star Wars anymore
"I have zero interest but I'm still gonna see it" Okidoke.
the classic maneuver just like how people say they are gonna stand up against pre-ordering games, as they've got about 4 games pre-ordered and are about to pre-order 2 more
I saw the first two in cinemas with a group of friends from uni, we used to always sit and talk about Star Wars lore and the films. We're gonna meet up for the first time since episode 8 and go see it Sometimes it's fun to do things with friends
I wonder how much of 9's box office is gonna come from hatewatching or 'boycotts'.
I don't know what's going on so far, but as much as I don't want to go into a argument about TLJ, I'm going to see this. I started watching this trilogy, I'm going to see how it ends, simple as that.
remember LANDO CALRSISSIAN?! i still havent seen TLJ or Solo because both look fucking terrible and rogue one i did unfortunately watch. i guess its just a matter of having discipline not to go do something youve said several times over that you dont want to do.
Maybe people just want to watch the new stuff, you big fucking baby ?
taking bets on how soon into the movie lando dies bidding starts at 20 minutes in
Looking on the bright side of this casting, it makes sense to bring a guy like Lando to the fold as he and Han Solo were scoundrels with ties to the criminal underworld and helped the Rebellion in the bleakest of moments during the Galactic Civil War. Would have been preferred to reveal him in The Force Awakens as that movie went on to pay homage to the original trilogy, but better late than never.
After watching TFA i was mildly interested in where they'll go next. After watching TLJ it would be pretty hard for me to give less of a shit about IX, Last Jedi is the only star wars movie that i only watched once in theater and haven't rewatched even a single time since then. IX may be the first Star Wars movie that i'll pass up seeing in theater completely(only went to Last Jedi and Solo because someone else paid for my tickets, although Solo was fine-ish in my opinion). The only Disney Star Wars movies i enjoyed so far were the Anthology films, and i'm far more interested in what the next spin-offs will look like than in conclusion to this shitty sequel trilogy.
what if people want to watch good stuff
Then they can go and watch good stuff ? The other bloke made it sound like people are just too "undisciplined" to resist the urge to watch a film, which is ridiculous.
good job ignoring half of my post. i specifically stated people who numerous times say "I don't want to watch this" yet still go watch it lack discipline. but tbf the movies are also shit so people could do with acquiring better taste really.
Go ahead and give everyone a list of your LeonS approved patrician content.
thats actually exactly what happens, its social FOMO
irrelevant to my first post which you havent admitted to not reading in an attempt to get a wicked zinger. please dont derail the topic anymore.
Because of the underwhelming The Last Jedi of its lack of character development; many plot holes; forced comedy, and also attacking its own fanbase/audience for criticising the film by using Ghostbusters 2016 strategy from Disney, and Lucasfilm. I never thought I would say this, but I'm going to skip this film tbh.
that scene will never cease to amaze me
I really didn't like Episode 8, but having Billy Dee Williams back actually really piques my interest because the performance he gave as Lando in the OT puts him in my top 3 Star Wars movie characters I've been a bit disappointed with how the OT characters have been left to go out in really underwhelming ways that don't really affect the plot in any interesting way, Lando should out with a bang.
I enjoyed the previous movies and will watch this one. fite me
Am I the only one who’s kind of hyped to see Richard E Grant in this??
It’s almost as if enjoying time with your friends is more important than whether or not a movie is good.
I was so hoping something fun was going to happen to really shake up the good/evil formula. Kylo and Rey could have went "Fuck red and blue, we're grey now".
Absolutely not. 8 was fine until they didn't seize the chance to give Leia a send-off that actually worked. Holy shit that was dumb. But i'll buy the rest of it. Just remove purple-hair and put Leia on that ship. Let Admiral Akbar be the one to die on-screen in space after the bridge blows. Ez GG Gib money Disney!
Really, i think they had a perfect opportunity to solve quite a few of the problems with TLJ in a way that would have both re-introduced the character, made an epic scene and set up parts of the next movie. Near the end of the movie when the Resistance sets up the distress beacon, i was hoping for something along the lines of Luke to suddenly arrive in his X-wing (Considering the movie showed his X-wing underwater and focused on it, i expected he'd lift it out of the water like he did on Dagobagh) having gathered several allies who were suddenly moved into action by the fact that Luke Skywalker had returned, including Lando. The whole "I'm sad" thing having been resolved by him realizing that regardless of him not actually being as the Myths said, he didn't need to be - that others thought he was and the hope that provided was enough.
I'm really curious to see how they can patch up the complete mess that was TLJ. Other than that, I'm definitely not as excited for this as I was in the past.
I hated TLJ when I watched it for the first time. It was only after watching it a second time that I appreciated just how much I hated it. The CGI, costume design and sound design are all utterly gorgeous but it feels like I'm getting slapped in the face by the writing every few minutes while I'm trying to enjoy everything.
I've read your first post, and clearly a few people don't exactly agree with your rhetoric. Probably because the quantity of people who are actually completely tired of star wars but insist on seeing every given film is not as massive as you'd think and this forum's behavior is by no means extended to the whole of the movie industry. They are still by and large really successful film and assuming any noteworthy portion of that success is due to people forcing themselves to see it despite not wanting to is fucking stupid. And the first part of your post was you doing what I can only assume is a bad imitation of RLM's stance on Star Wars while sounding like an obnoxious manbaby, so it's probably best to ignore entirely for what little it's worth.
