So I found this really rad WoW private server that’s a ton of fucking fun. It’s basically Vanilla WoW except you can make your own class from all of the spells and talents in the game. I haven’t seen this posted on here yet, so check it out: https://youtu.be/4hQXU3o7KQQ https://youtu.be/jpk8WtkpH_g Let’s make a Facepunch guild lmao.
Heh this seems pretty neat. Imagine a rogue's dps, warrior's survival, and mage's cc. Shit must be hella broken
For sure, sky’s the limit really...but from what I’ve seen they’re pretty good at balance so nothing is too bonkers. It’s hard to make a really good build without investing heavily into 1 or 2 classes.
I'd join if I wasn't being having a nostalgia trip on ragnarok online private servers right now
Pretty interested in this, especially the seasonal one sounds really interesting having a staggered level cap to allow people to stay on par. I noticed on the site that the client they use is WotLK but it's a vanilla server - Been years since I have seen anything to do with WoW private servers but is this a thing now? Is it vanilla but with all the graphical/client improvements from WotLK?
Yeah pretty much, it looks and plays like WotLK but with a level cap of 60...there’s also a graphics patch to add the new models from WoD and textures from cata.
Okay definitely giving this a try before Blizz inevitably shuts it down
This looks pretty cool, but there also seems to be some negativity about it. Some guy who played for a while made a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=161&v=WNVUxDmQLSI Seems lik ethe staff are a bit dorky from what this guy mentions, but is he over exaggerating/being untruthful? Legitimate question, the server concept itself looks really cool
Those donation incentives are scummy as hell. They're charging double for Blizzard's own cosmetics. Makes me miss Nostalrius where there were no rewards for donating.
That vid misrepresents a lot of things, this guy was caught trading items for irl money and duping and got himself banned. Literally just drama to try and hurt Ascension. He even reported them to Blizzard to try and get them shutdown because he got banned
Yeah I mean, I fucking hate the P2W scheme so I can pretty much assure you that it doesn't work like that. You don't like, "pay 5$ to unlock the rogue kit" or anything. It's all baked into the talent selection UI.
xecc shill spotted :^)
Sorry for firing a lame zinger in your direction. That wasn't constructive. My argument for ascension is that they've put a lot of love & time into the changes they've made to WoW. Yes, you can pay for some things that will make your life easier. Admittedly it's not ideal, but the amount of polish and professionalism they bring to the table is better than 90% of games you see released these days - games that deserve money much less. That's why I get triggered by those 2 videos in particular - as you can tell I'm quite familiar with them. They misrepresent everything about ascension as a whole, its community, and its devs.
So how much money did you spend on the server lmao
A WoW private server is chock full of P2W garbage and is ran by people that don't know what they're doing? I'm shocked, flabbergasted, absolutely speechless.
Wait, its P2W? Who the fuck thought that was a good idea, thats a good way to get Blizzard to sue you into oblivion.
Here's what I understand from the cash shop right now, as far as purchased gameplay benefits go: $1 Experience Boosters $50 Max Level Booster $5 Full Talent Reset $10 Full Spell/Ability Reset $1 Bags (12 Slot) $10 Complete Bank Unlock $5/20 Riding Tomes $25 Profession Mastery $15/35/50 Additional Build Presets $25 Portable Enchanting Station (Reusable?) $30 Portable Hearthstone Binding Point (Resuable?) The advertised mechanics seem fun enough, and I'm definitely giving it my all. However, I see major problems with the Build Presets, the binding points, and the mastered professions. With the very high gold costs of 1000g, 5000g, and 20000g for the Build Presets, it allows for players to create deadlier builds than the ones who didn't make the most efficient choices during leveling, (xp rates are vastly higher compared to pre-Cataclysm). If I researched right, a full respec of talents and spells equals 180g, roughly a full day of farming dailies, dungeons, and profession gear (excluding luck on the market). Since my interest is mainly in PvP, portable binding points can create an issue. Some of your equipped gear and inventory can drop on death, so gank squads can drop a respawn point 25 yards away and just Zerg rush you. That is possible since party members can access one person's purchased binding point. With professions being mastered instantly, I expect people equipping their gank squads with the stupidest gear with very little effort. I enjoy much of WoW's formulae, especially since I stopped playing at late Wrath of the Lich King, so I'm giving this server a sincere shot with no dollars spent. My greatest fears lie in those three items, though I see great promise in the project as a whole. Best case scenario, Blizzard gets a clue and implements this classless concept in their own server.
YouTube just suggested a PvP video by this guy, from this server, so I figured I'd look at it for a few minutes. My assumption was correct, DR is non-effective since a single player can pick CC from all possible categories, so it's just a complete shitfest.
