I've been off from rust for some months and today I installed the game again and when I'm trying to join any server it loads and at some point it just closes. I tried everything and it keeps on closing/crashing.
I really need some help
Yes, that's become a common problem recently. We're hoping for a fix in the update next Thursday, please be patient until then to see if it works afterwards.
Okay, I'll wait so
Hi guys, I send a lot of e-mails to Facepunch about this problem, this crash problems appears since the Puzzle update.
In my last e-mail they answer this:

Mac Rust is known to have some issue at the moment, the developers are aware of it (and have crash logs) so hopefully they can fix it in one of the upcoming patches.
can you give me facepunch email please ?
support@facepunch.com but I started t he conversation by here: Submit a request – Facepunch Studios
I have the same issue, im currently on linux not mac.
Read the top sticky in regards to linux. You might be able to find an answer, but don't expect one.
Loadingue, have these OSX crashes ever been addressed by FacePunch? It seems that these issues are substantial enough to warrant an official explanation. Currently the Mac/Rust community is left in the dark as to why the game is rendered unplayable. Not to mention the fact new Mac players of the game are purchasing a game that doesn't currently function properly. This should be addressed professionally with all users. Don't you agree?
Yes, but there's nothing I can do about it.
this Thursday (today) or the 9th?
Tonight.
Ok thank you Loadingue
Hi i had this problem quite a few times and how i fixed it was i went to "This PC" then "Local disk" after there i went to "Programme Files (86x)" into "steam" then into "steam apps" go into "common" then into "rust" rightclick rust and click "Run as administrator" This should fix your problem
Clearly didnt help at all, still crashes like previously. Can you explain what the issue is exactly and why we are still experiencing it?
I shall peep in at this point...
Verifying your local files cures a multitude of annoying issues.
I did a few times, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. This barely solves the problem and it would be great to see a permanent solution
the game is pretty much unplayable for me now. Crashes when day turns to night and at other random times. I'm on a mac. Is this ever gonna get fixed or???
In my case i have no problems running the game normally, but it crashes without a reason randomly (on mac). Had a friend of mine review the crash report, he said it was a problem with the game engine or the textures loading in (idk if thats the case). This is simply unfair on the non windows players. If the game isn't playable on mac then why would you claim it is on the store page?
I would think it's a memory leak. One was patched last night, but apparently it wasn't enough.
I noticed a huge memory leak from ambience emitters that could also negatively affect performance. It's fixed now and you should hopefully see an improvement, but it's a lesson that we should pay performance some more attention than we've been doing over the recent months. It's one of the main things I'll be doing this month.
I know this doesn't seem to concern too many players, but not everybody bothers to complain on the forums. Most players would simply not launch the game again... (I'm probably done for now, simply cant play this game )
"This doesn't seem to concern too many players"? It's been the biggest technical complaint in recent weeks.
I guess it puts the fix around the top of the priority list, hope it will not be a problem for too long... Thanks for your time.
After many failed 'solutions' I increased my hard drive's paging file size to double the RAM on my Windows system.
Cheers and I hope this helps you
