there's just as many confederate flags up north these days, the people that fly it are willfully ignorant of its meaning. Like I've been to the monument at gettysburg where people from my town died fighting the south and yet reb jeb over there is roaring around my town in his pickup with a confederate flag.

I'm from Northern Virginia and rarely see confederate flags despite the principal army in the confederacy being the "Army of Northern Virginia". This is because of how the landscape has changed over 150 years. You do, however, see confederate flags in West Virginia which makes NO fucking sense because West Virginia was explicitly founded as a government-in-exile of Virginians who opposed secession

Hate to tell you but Atlanta has massive issues with crime, wealth inequality, and gangs. Only difference is local government is ignoring the issue and blowing their money on stupid shit. Prime example was the rampant homeless rate they "solved" by removing the shelters. Corruption is HUGE here with a new spending scandal every year. I can't speak for austin kr houston, but southern cities in general just don't give a shit to public funding.

I spent a lot of my youth in baltimore since I grew up in the suburbs of maryland and I have very positive memories of the city. also I'm pretty sure he's calling DC a shithole . Though I think most people would agree for reasons that aren't black people.

Its a mega shit hole with a lot of problems that could be solved with better public transit, despite having one of the best in the nation (MARTA). 281 is basicallt Fury Road at this point. My point is that a city getting the official designation of "shithole" does not come down to how many blacks live there, how many confederate monuments are there, or what color party is running it. Big urban centers in the US tend to share the same issues and neither party is effectively addressing these issues.
