I figured I would post this here since the previous parts of this 4 part series were posted in the video subforum. But Polidicks doesn't require that every thread need a article anymore so why not here.
This guy articulates his points pretty well and includes a thorough source list in his descriptions. If you missed the previous videos you can check them out here
Oh man tensions are high in Polidicks these days, but it's easy to see why.
"but if we voted in hilary it would have created a clinton dynasty!"
wait what
Fascists could only rise to power by convincing the people to unite into one mass and support the ideas pursued by the State.
Trump is too retarded to do that. The man has single-handedly divided the country.
Trump isn't Fascist, but he is definitely working toward some ulterior motive.
I mean you could argue that he is one but he hasn't succeeded yet.
This is not actually how fascists have historically worked, they take power and purge the opposition. They wouldn't need to purge opposition if they had a single united mass of a population to control.
One simple trick, fascists hate it!
I'm sorry but no matter his credentials, I can't take a video with that kind of title and thumbnail seriously. And so I'm not going to give him the dignity of a view. Videos like that may ultimately be counter-productive for the perspective which they advocate for.
If you're going to post opinion pieces, you should post those pieces from credible news and current affair sites such as USA Today or ABC News (Australia or America), not from YouTube personalities. And I say that as someone who wouldn't have voted for Trump.
who needs to be compitent when you have lots of billionaire friends who will wage your war for you?
It's not exactly what you are looking for but here is a shockingly prescient opinion piece from the Washington Post about Trump's brand of fascism.
the videos hes put out are better framed and reasoned than most news sources. your interpretation of the videos quality based on its title is incorrect.
"Dont judge a book on its cover"
I don't think calling out fascism is exactly counter productive. The thing which has changed over the past few decade isn't that people are calling fascists fascist, it's that some people have decided to tell people that it's okay to be nationalist, racist and that anyone who tells you it's not is part of some oppressive elite
People support (and oppose) him fervently. That's a rather typical situation for a fascist until they enough power to silence the opposition.
Even if hillary won now, one day America would have elected someone like trump. Simply because of the political divide and flawed election system. Trump has been a wakeup call, an inevitable result of American politics and the election system.
Hell, I'm afraid you guys will one day vote for someone who is basically just a competent version of Trump, a guy who can subvert America without fucking up royal.
That title, come on. It's not really appropriate to exaggerate a label and then assign everybody to it.
As terrible as Trump is, he hasn't done anything overtly fascist in nature, just more fervently pursuing the usual American right wing reactionary crap.
If Trump elevates himself to a new position of supreme chancellor, and then opposition starts being seeked out, threatened and murdered by Trump-supporter mobs or secret police, then by all means start calling fascist.
It's diametrically opposed to democracy, but as of yet Trump occupies the position he was elected to, is (currently) within his term limits, and he is not supressing opposition. Sorry, he's not a fascist; he's just a corrupt discrace of a president.
It's 2018. Words don't mean things, we just have newspeak.
I am not interested in entrenching myself in this debate, but you seem to be conflating "fascist" with "successful fascist".
People like Some More News are just highlighting the overtly fascist tendencies of the Trump camp, and how the definition of fascism can be applied outside of its original historical position. Just because this new Trump-wave is using different tools and tactics doesn't mean it can't be described as a movement that's fascist in nature. That isn't to say he's deeply versed in some esoteric political theory put forward by some kooky Germans and Italians. Instead his speech and his actions mirror those 20th century European movements in a new 21st century American context.
It would be insane to think that any fascist movement with intent to succeed would strap on their fasces and eagles and swastikas - no, they'll use images that appeal to their audiences and their snake oil solutions,.
Can we stop with this? You don't have to actually do any of this to be a fascist, you just have to want to.
It's like saying neo-nazis don't actually exist because they aren't gassing the jews.
I dunno why you have an alt but you're right. The way our politics are set up encourages extremists to rise to the top and forces moderates to pick between one extreme or the other. And America at large isn't going to learn from this, it's probably just going to flip far left in 2020 and make the overall problem worse.
I really can't see a far left candidate winning in 2020. Trump is the end result of 30 years of conservative fearmongering and divisiveness, the far left in America is still nascent. The closest thing we might see is Sanders winning the presidency then having the majority of his domestic agenda cockblocked by the Republicans and neoliberal Democrats but what is probably going to happen is Trump will be re-elected.
Traveling abroad (Greece) and didn't remember password so. Temporary alt.
For a moment there I honestly mistook you as another one of Tudd's alts, considering he pretended to play the role of starpluck a couple days ago. How embarrassing.
That was Tudd? wow.
Could you watch the video my dude? Not only in this video, but also his last two videos where he comes with tonnes upon tonnes of comparison to Trump and fascism.
I didn't know it was Tudd but it was fairly obvious it wasn't Starpluck. Starpluck's posts might've been a tad unhinged at times but he never went so far as to be a parody of himself.
Thanks to Donald Trump, the guy who is actively trying to silence dissent?
It's like you're unaware of the world around you.
Yeah I really don't like this idea that it's not fair to call out fascists until they have successfully consolidated power. It's like you are saying "Don't warn people about the fascist until it's too late!"
Donald Trump is a fascist, his goals are fascist goals, and his tactics are fascist tactics, whether he has successfully employed these tactics to achieve these goals yet or not.
It's like watching a train approach you at full speed and deciding that it's not going to hit you until it does. You see the tracks, you know where it's going, you never hear any brakes - and yet you decide to do nothing because you want the train to stop, so it will. "Oh, it's a mile away, surely it'll stop." "Oh, it's 1000 feet away, surely it'll stop." "Oh, it's 100 feet away, surely it'll stop." "Oh, it's inches away, okay maybe it'll hi-"
If you allow fascism to grow to the point where none can deny it is straight up fascism as it is literally right outside your door, you are already in a fascist state run by fascists, supported by fascists, with fascist policy being the only policy.
