I just can't get over how Hardy went with an impression of Duddits from Dreamcatcher.
can they just redub Tom Hardy again? This accent is ridiculous, especially when you consider he did a fine American accent in Black Hawk Down. Riz Ahmed is running circles round him.
I laughed at it Honestly, I want to give this a chance, it looks alright.
Please tell me that cg is nowhere near complete, the white goop from The Evil Within 2 looks better
I doubt it’ll look much better. The full Venom is fine, but whenever they show Tom’s face... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/189448/f4a206e0-7cb2-44a7-86c1-1df5c6d6f00c/59FCB980-0800-4198-8353-EE74B06D3143.jpeg Haven’t they learned?
I have a feeling that he only really turns into Venom like twice, and the rest of the movie is just Tom Hardy slinging black slime.
That threat near the end could have been scary as fuck if done right but instead they went with crappy humour.
Just to clear up some confusion about the symbiotes Venom will be fighting against in this film, Scream and Lasher will play minor side villains and the big bad will be Riot, with at least a reference to Carnage to set up a sequel.
i thought Carnage and Venom were friends?
Wow, this film for The Darkness doesn't look great. Alternatively: Wow, this Prototype film doesn't look great.
Carnage has no friends
Welp, finally, they did the face/body/proportions right, and it looks fucking ace. The movie looks a little on the cheezy side but eh, I've been wanting this film for a long while and it ticks enough of my Venom-boxes to get my boner poppin. At least it plays on the Lethal Protector bit of him not being entirely evil, just kind of being attached to a dorkus who couldn't be scary if he tried. That last line isn't meant to be badass, it's Brock being shit lol
It's more of a neglectful father and sadistic son kind of connection
I actually think the CG looks fine What did/do people want Venom to look like? This to me aligns with what my brain says the comic book would look like in real life.
Exactly fucking this. They nailed it. Actual towering, thicc ass Venom, with the huge ass grin, tonsa teeth, and the tongue. SM3 had none of that, but now we are blessed. >prepares lotion
The part at 1:21 I could only think of The Darkness.
I mean you can literally watch the trailer and see :v they do a pretty good job showcasing it
Should have just let him use his normal English accent. It's not like they're following the comics 100% for this.
I've always thought Venom was supposed to be a parallel to Peter Parker/Spiderman's responsibility paradigm; and Carnage was the parallel to Venom's self control. Don't really see how he can work as a solo protagonist hero.
Neither does Sony, but, by golly, they'll try. Basically, Sony is making a MCU fan-fiction universe with all the Spider-Man characters they still have full rights to; like, Black Cat and Silver Sable.
i have never seen a trailer with dialogue more cut up
Say what you want, I'm gonna watch it and love it anyway 'cause it stars our lad Hardy.
I'm hoping it's just awful trailer cutting and not the writing. Some of the lines in this trailer and the last one are downright awful.
Not sure about the movie, but atleast Venom looks cool, the way they made his grin kinda reminds me of his early apparitions in the comics: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/t_original/tktipsbz8f4d3tpptqqo.jpg
He has before, in plenty of comics. He doesn't need Spider-Man to be a character
I just lack the confidence in Sony do him (or any of the characters they still have sole rights to) justice.
I mean fair enough, I don't trust Sony either but what exactly do people want from this character/movie? No one seems to know what they expect. I personally expect to see a CG heavy film lead by a good actor dealing with the struggle between being a "anti hero" and a villain and some comic book related bullshit that happens in between. That's what we'll get. What do you expect though?
In the Ultimate comics he has no real ties to Spider-man as he was originally a secret bio-weapon built by his and Brock's father by a shady organization called Trask Industries. In the Ultimate Spider-man game its revealed that Richard Parker put on the Venom "suit" on a plane to kill agents targeting him and his family which resulted in all of them dying before the suit was found in the wreckage by Trask. Years later it fell into Eddie Brock's hands and he kept the remains in a remote lab in his college before he and Peter reunite. I like to believe that this is where they are going with this as to not rope Parker into it so a solo film can be do-able. I'm actually hyped for this. Hardy's accent is weird, but Venom looks great, evil CEO looks to be a silly edgy villain for Venom to chew on, and he's killing/eating people like comic Venom with his silly edgy comebacks and fights with his tendrils. If you took out the comic book bits except venom you'd think people would associate this with a PG-13 slasher flick ala Jason takes Manhattan.
i was such a fucking Venom fanboy as a kid, so I'm obligated to see this, but yeesh I wish it was Marvel doing it. At least it's R rated, though.
