Has anyone at facepunch used a compound bow in real life? It works the exact opposite of how it has been made. A compound bow is designed to use pulleys to amplify the force of pulling it back. Making it quick and easy to pull back, while applying a lot of force to the arrow. When you reach the full pull back of the bow the pulleys make it easy to hold. There is almost no force required to hold the bow fully pulled back. You also shouldn't fire a compound bow before it fully pulled back, its not designed for that. As a game play element it is interesting. But the mechanics between the bow and the compound should be switched. Keep the regular bow and compound bow damage the same, but let the regular bow have a charge timer that can be rapid fired, and make the compound have a flat pull back like the current bow. Maybe the current way the mechanics are are how the game should play out. But it seems silly with how a real world compound bow works. There are least shouldn't be any shake on the compound, and should be some on the regular bow. Once the compound is pulled back it is so easy to keep pulled back.
not everything has to be 100% accurate but i got ur point
Nor is a Longbow, Traditional bow (used in rust) or any other type of bow, I doubt if anyone in Facepunch or indeed played Rust has used any or all of the weapons used in the game. Some would have some rifle or gun target practise and maybe some hunting experience but that would be a minority, It doesnt realy matter as it is a game and it not supposed to replicate real life, I shot a scientist in the head and put 3 more arrows into him before he fell down , Would that happen in real life - no the headshot would have disabled him, But its a game,
I understand it, but the that is a damage value. They should replicate the pull back of the compound as it technically isn't a compound bow if the pullback is completly different.
I mentioned that as an example of the game not being real life. I doubt if anyone is concerned (apart from yourself) with the exact operation of the bow so long as it works and kills people.
Yes, you haven't taken a bullet to the head + 3 arrows before? Got a slight headache the following day.
More like a "sharp" pain
Actually there was just a combined 20 years of warfare in the middle east (Afghanistan and Iraq) by the US and it's allies. This game is played in the EU and NA. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who play this game that have used a lot of the weapon systems in this game. The OP is correct about the compound, it would be nice if they made it more accurate to the actual thing. A lot of the weapons share some relevance to their real world counter parts, it would be nice if the bows did too. And as to your first point...the bow is one of the first weapons people make in the game.
Actually there has not been one clear month of peace (world wide) since WW2 but what that has to do with it is unclear, I would say the majority of players are under military age and those that have served in the armed forces would not have used a bow. crossbow, mace or every one of the projectile weapons in this game, Afganistan. Pakistan, India,Irag and Iran (and not including Isreal and its protaginists) have been involved in warfare for over 150 years with or without America , England or any other "western" nations, And I doubt very much that those involved in these wars would be spending much time playing rust,
bro...you way over reacted over the war thing. All I'm saying is what that much wars going on, there is bound to be vets playing. I personally know a lot of Vets that play. Actually, if anything you proved my point. All I was pointing out is that there is probably a larger than you think chunk of people who play, who have used these weapon systems in real life at some point.
Since none of this is reality based, I'm waiting for magic wands to be introduced.
As a game mechanic I'm fine with it, but I also felt that it was a bit weird, literally the opposite :v
It's a bit silly how you need to stand still to be able to charge the compound bow, you should be able to move and charge it at the same time.
