Post about games you can sit down with friends and pass time with, preferably will run on any machine and have very little barrier of entry.
Jackbox Party Pack(s)

The Jackbox games are a series of party games prompting player responses and player voting, one of the most popular games being Fibbage:
Fibbage XL expands on the original Fibbage with more
potential questions. Each round of the game, a player selects from one
of five random categories, and an obscure fact is presented to all
players with a missing word or phrase to complete it. Each player uses
their local device to enter a reply for those missing words; if they
enter the actual right answer, they are asked to enter something
different. Then, the game presents all replies, including the correct
one, to the players, who then select what they think is the right
answer. Players score points for selecting the right answer, but can
also score if other players select their reply, so players are
encouraged to provide seemingly correct answers for their replies. The
player with the most points at the end of all rounds is the winner.
Players use their individual devices to connect to a server from their web browser which makes it easy for everyone to join in. Most games are pretty simple to pick up but provide for funny responses and situations.
Jazz Jackrabbit 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_05TG3nO8Y
Developed and released by Epic Games (of Fortnite fame) in 1998, JJ2 has a severely underlooked online community that's still somewhat active today. Multiplayer consists of local 2-4 player SPLITSCREEN, and up two 8 players via modem, or 32 players via LAN or online. Purchasing the game on GOG sets you up with JJ2+ which is a series of bug fixes and editing tools/mods which are still maintained. Base game modes are Battle, Capture the Flag, Treasure Hunt, and Race, and the expansion includes 11 more game modes.
This game will run on any shitbox and any modern computer so I highly recommend this one.

Pole Riders – Foddy.net
Developed by Bennett Foddy (of QWOP fame), Pole Riders is a silly physics-based flash game where both players utilize their poles to maneuver and score goals. It's fast paced and has nuanced movement, making a game that can be picked up and enjoyed for extended periods of time.
Feel free to contribute your favorites too. My list consists of games that I've found to be the most fun and easiest to set up, while also being a game that can be played with anyone. It's hard to find recommendations that don't require lengthy download and install times, or easy to pick up and play.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOnZ9hYiArs
Possibly one of the most adorable coop games released, Lovers puts up to four players in charge of manning the various parts of a spaceship navigating through dangerous and unexplored territory. Multiplayer is single-screen couch coop only, and supports keyboards and controllers. The game is complete with several roles, upgrades, levels, and ships, making it an easy game to return to. Highly recommend this one too since the gameplay is unique and simple enough for everyone to join, but difficult enough that it requires good communication.
Spaceteam
https://youtu.be/mO4Nqc5Emxo
Spaceteam is a 2-8 player couch coop game available for free on android and ios. Players control the randomized unique command centers on a spaceship and are given instructions which they must communicate to the other players. It's honestly so much easier to explain through the video, but it's easy to pick up and encourages participation from everyone.
also this is a plea for help because i've resorted to screensharing visual novels over discord with my gf so we would have something to keep us entertained. she likes games like slither.io and other fun little pick up and play games, coins for good recs.
