Staff members at Shiloh admitted to signing off on medications in lieu of a parent, relative or legal guardian, according to Gee’s ruling. Government officials defended this practice, saying they provided these drugs only on “an emergency basis” when a child’s “extreme psychiatric symptoms” became dangerous.
The judge didn’t buy this explanation, pointing to testimony from children who said they were given pills “every morning and every night.” Officials “could not have possibly” administered medications to children on an emergency basis every day, Gee wrote.
You might want to change that title. I had no idea this was about migrants and thought this was about gay conversion camps before I clicked on the title.
Gay conversion camps unfortunately have the consent of the parents who send said kids into the camps.
I have a strong feeling that this isn't actually going to change anything. They don't seem to have too much care for the law in those places.
They'll ship the kids to an extrajudicial site like Guantanamo.
A lot of them also operate outside of US jurisdiction because the "doctors" involved are liable to have their medical license revoked because by every definition it's quite literally inhumane torture. So, it wouldn't matter what the US judge thinks on the matter, because these camps are outside their influence of power.
