Basically female hardcore gamers are the kind of girls who play fantasy MMOs in raiding guilds where they fight bosses every night in order to try and get that epic red dress for their mage.
Thats hardcore for me these days, I can't stand grinding in MMO's to that extent anymore.
The older I get, the less patience I have for that stuff.
This is actually a very interesting article based on the statistics shown. It's kind of a "well, duh" thing, but now there's data behind it.
I took the survey they had there, and it's pretty cool how it ranks what aspects of games you enjoy, and can then recommend games that might interest you, although in my case it recommended games I already played (but they were games I liked so it was pretty accurate).
Here's my results:

according to the game recommendation thing, apparently i should REALLY play animal crossing since one game had like double the score of the next highest on the list

That's not so surprising to me. The social aspects of games only typically serve to add to my anxiety, especially when I get burnt out on games far easier than my friends so keeping up with them is basically impossible unless I turn it into a chore, in which case why even bother playing the game since it won't be fun?
Story and world/character design are the most important aspects to me. I can even tolerate subpar gameplay or difficult gameplay (La-Mulana and La-Mulana 2, for example) despite my really low challenge rating if the game has a really interesting and engaging story and characters.
Well it'd add more to the potential for discussion of the subject.

very accurate. i love breaking shit in games, finding all the little details, breaking the game itself. side note: games that feature flushable toilets and usable faucets automatically get a leg up compared to other games.

Why is immersion so low? That's one of the primary things I like in a game, I spend a lot of time in games just walking and looking at things and taking in the sights, but I guess because I answered that I don't really care for roleplaying as a character that it thinks otherwise. Also this thing doesn't account for racing games like, at all.
And I also feel like it assumes that, if you answer that you love games that require fast reaction times and action, it means you don't like games that are the exact opposite, which is a total lie lmao

I would have put immersion about 20% higher, but I guess it's counting some completion question toward that percentage. I do not give half a fuck about achievements, I just want to unlock the stuff.
Also, despite gravitating toward games where explosives and destruction are large parts of the game, I tend to not actually use them myself. I just like that they exist.

Feel like social is a little to high and mastery is a bit too low.
I'm not exactly a social butterfly and when it comes to mastering games, that depends on whether its fully online or only singleplayer.

I'm not sure why social/community is as high as it is, and why strategy is as low as it is.
I mean, when I am playing with other players, I enjoy it. I just get too stressed out to do it often. yaay social anxiety disorder
And I like tactics and thinking things out, but I'm not that great at long term strategy, and especially not real time strategy.
also what the shit are these recommendations

At least Persona and Nier are on there. And HZD, and Dragon Age as a series.
TIL I'm a woman. I hate competitive gaming and want a story-rich singleplayer experience
Men: Euro Truck Simulator 2
Women: Sims 4
LGBTBBQ: Bad Ratz
Interesting metric. I used to only know one with 4 gamer types (forgot the name of it), this "new" one will be useful in the future.
Unfortunately my results aren't very useful, most evenly spread. I enjoy many facets of games (except Achievement) as long they are of top percentile.
I'm also more female-leaning.
Relaxed, Independent, and Deeply Immersed

Hardcore is a pretty vague term though, I'd say that most of hardcore gaming depends entirely on the person. If you're just playing Doom '16 on low settings for a couple hours I'd say that sounds casual. But if you're in the dark on a master race PC playing the entire game on high settings with booming sound, that's hardcore gaming. It's less the game, and more how much you invest in the experience.

I mean, it makes sense to me
Mind you, this is an opt-in survey. This could very well be extremely off from the real differences between the genres in this area.
I’m very interested in the correlation between someone’s personality type and how they like to game. I think a lot of it I could assume, but I will be really cool to see a comparison.

Seems fitting.
I'd like to think an opt-in survey has more trustworthy data since there won't be many people just clicking away randomly so they can get it over with

I enjoy a few different kinds of games (Asura's Wrath as much as D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die or Night in the Woods), so I'm not sure I'd actually like a game that represents the average of these motivations. I really like the community aspects of SMT: Liberation Dx2 for example, but that would be atrocious in anything that takes itself any more seriously than that. The common thread is probably good writing (or at least an interesting universe).
As for personality:
We had a thread about this in the programming section a few years ago: Personality test
Dropbox broke, so here's the images I posted back then:
