Apple hits $1 trillion market cap >The stock rose nearly 3 percent following a strong third-quarter earnings report earlier this week, briefly hitting a session high of $207.05 in midday trading before falling back below $207. Based on a recently adjusted outstanding share count of 4,829,926,000 shares, a stock price of $207.05 or greater would have nudged Apple over the finish line in the race to one trillion.
A business empire built on child labour and slavery of third world countries for products that are sub-par.
So they finally sold their 10th MacBook Pro
not to mention a legion of brainwashed consumers
Slave labor and consumers that buy your stuff no matter what is succeeding at capitalism.
Just like the textile factories used to make here at home. Full circle is fun.
They are the first to one trillion but Amazon will be the first to 2 trillion.
Apple peaked in the early 2010's just before Jobs left Now all they do is make the same stuff but figure out ways to make it more terrible.
You're doing it wrong. You need the finest leather for the whips, and that will cost you the lightning port. And it's your fault the phone doesn't charges.
Every computer at my office is a mac. We do all of our development on MacOS and I want to fucking die
shitting on the macbook seems unwarranted to me when a laptop to most people is about the experience they get and what they perceive to be a good value. it's got a very nice body, some of the best screens in the game, the best trackpad in the game, a decent keyboard, and a widely supported operating system that people have grown familiar with. they're just nice to use and i find myself wanting my own when i borrow my friend's macbook. you can argue about the price but it's difficult to find anything similar to that experience with all of those benefits in one laptop that won't also be in the same price range. plus the support was phenomenal, i strolled into the store with someone and got a free diagnostic as well as consultation within 20 minutes, and parts fixed and returned within days.
I think you mean it's overpriced for any of the parts, poorly built, and fragile.
a lot of people are still out there running 2011 macbooks, whereas there's a lot of mistrust coming from other consumer grade laptops since they tend to break even faster or go unsupported within a couple of years. i think it was after the 2013 model when they started being hard to service without needing apple to do it for you which is a pretty big downside for them since it's only gotten worse in that regard.
We shit on apple because almost every mac has had a recall for some reason or another after 2 - 3 years because they keep dying. Sure they're pretty nice when they work. but when they don't then it all goes to pot.
what do you mean, "mere"
Plus, it comes preloaded with the Apple© iTunes© store, allowing me to download all my favorite Hollywood Hits, this season's hottest shows, or just fill up my playlist and chill. And because of Apple©'s patented integrated programming, connecting my Apple© iPhone© is a snap.
i use spotify to listen to music and itunes never pops up unless i go out of my way to launch it. i transfer files to my android via bluetooth, it's pretty accommodating for whatever you need to do and you don't have to get sucked into the ecosystem.
I don't care for any of the Mac lineups, but I just can't bring myself to prefer anything over iOS. Can I claim to just be an iPhone fanboy, and not an Apple fanboy???
I seen better screens and similar bodies. their keyboards of late have disastrous build quality. And the trackpad? They bought another company who was working on the "gestures" tech, and and Apple threaten to sue those that do the same to oblivion. Other laptops and brands have their downs, their mistakes and screw ups. I am a windows guy but have no hesitation to call out Microsoft when they pull bullshit. Apple fans seem to have this pattern where any mistake on other devices is "pathetic when compared to Apple products". But when apple does something stupid, its "brave." the loss of the headphone jack, replacing all ports on their laptop with usb c before adoption of the standard even started, the touchbar, the butterfly keyboard, the trashcan mac pro, the overheating i9 MacBook. And I don't consider support good if I have no other option because they were trigger happy with the glue gun when putting together their products, and then pay more than half the product price for fixing a tiny piece. I mean to be honest, it is changing. In the last year particularly I see a lot of long term apple guys beginning to voice their opinions. Particularly the actual professional community. But apple wont care when they release the next iphone with another missing feature, and still make millions.
Is it really that hard to understand what's wrong with overpriced things?
The most impressive thing is this: “Average sales price for an iPhone is now $724.12, which is much higher than in the past. Just a year ago, the ASP was barely over $600, and two years ago it was $595.26. This is a pretty significant jump.” Apple Announces Q3 FY 2018 Results While iPhone sales haven’t grown much, they’ve made people spend a lot more money. I honestly personally don’t get how lay people can justify spending so much money on a phone - I’m on a (used, and very cheaply bought) 6S, and I honestly don’t see what kind of improvements would radically alter the experience. I used to follow the smartphone space very closely, but the tangible improvements have simply seemed to stop as far as I’m concerned - that people are now willing to spend even more is puzzling (though I guess some people were always willing, apple just didn’t give them the option).
Well dont buy them, there's plenty of competition to choose from
I too have a similar dislike for Apple and their products - but not for their poor decision, just their poor decisions. They lock users down into their eco system in an attempt to strengthen their customer base. It's clearly working so well done for them - but I can't withstand someone telling me what I can and can't do with a product I've bought. Used to own an IPhone 3Gs (which was probably my favourite model of them all, plus I got it for free second hand), but in their attempts to stop people from jail breaking their devices, or stopping 3rd party repairs, is just fucking disgraceful. I can understand not wanting to service a phone that has been bricked by a mistake on the users part by jailing breaking, but they are just so anti competitive, allowing them to set what ever price they want. Users above saying slave labour and unyielding customer base being a win to capitalism, is not true when competition is hushed down by their deep pockets and legal team. Capitalism is having someone repair a broken item and sell it in a working condition. It's not forcing a shop to sell only apple products if they are to sell any at all. It's complete bullshit.
Ok? Good? What was even the point of this post? Should I be happy that Apple doesn't have a monopoly on smartphones and computers? I am, doesn't mean I have to like Apple and their overpriced garbage
That might buy their stuff but is actually only make about 10th of the market at best.
Yeah. What's wrong with things costing much?
To be fair OS X is a fairly solid platform for development work. Decent dev tool integration and access to a proper terminal. But it's not exactly cost efficient. I'd like to be able to use a Linux machine in my office, but we're all using Macbooks. A shame because we develop in Java so there's no real concerns with compatibility.
Yeah, there's like 200 employees at my office and each one of us has a brand new macbook pro. It seems like a colossal waste of money when you could have gotten some thinkpads or literally anything with an i5 and enough memory to run IntelliJ and then either booted Windows 10 or Linux. I'd prefer linux considering our product runs on Ubuntu at every stage of development
Congrats now pay your fucking tax you cunts
Depends on the user really, MacOS is more idiot proof than Windows so I don't get as many calls from those users who tend to be old people. A company can make the money back but using IT resources more efficiently that way. I'd probably take a Razor Blade over an MBP anyday though personally.
