My uncle is a supervisor there, just found out from him. Told us they're on lock down and nobody's saying anything.
Just another fucking day.
Hope your uncle stays safe my guy. :c

Update: Officials: No ‘real world’ active shooter incident at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
So was it an exercise or a real shooter?
Slight weapons malfunction, but everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
bored, 2 and a half weeks of fuck all before college classes start back up again.
The update posted right above you cleared it up by saying somebody had mistaken the excercise for a real one and called 911.
Yeah but the OP quoted his uncle who was actually there and said that there was a real situation right after the training exercise.
Perhaps you can understand my confusion given that I read the full thread, no?
Yeah, but that was a while back, it wasn't probably very clear for everybody there when it was in-progress. I would argue that update, which came after, was pretty sufficient at telling what's actually going on.
Sure, but official sources sometimes are wrong too!
I think it's reasonable to ask questions to clear up confusing matters, no?
If the base officials say there was no actual active shooting and it has been declared safe etc, I don't see what's the confusion at this point, but if you insist lol.
Checked my texts again to give another update, he said the radio was insane to listen to... PD and SWAT were both en route, but that they are sure it was someone calling in a shooting during the exercise, because even though they announced it was an exercise over and over, someone had jumped the gun and freaked out.
Got kind of curious, do you know is this kind of thing typical? I mean, where somebody mistakes an excercise for the real thing.
It can be. Especially at Wright-Patt. The base is large, and divided up into different areas. He works on one side, the medical center is on another side of the base. At the time, he was nearby, but not at the medical center. So someone there heard about it, but didn't get all the information.
Pretty much boils down to "the place is too damn big and they didn't relay information properly."
Thanks for the info, it really helps at understanding how something like that can come to be.
I work on a AFB, whenever we do these exercises they're usually isolated to a section of the base and the rest of the base has limited participation. However, it never goes without a hitch because someone on base doesn't get the memo or something and reports seeing an armed subject or they say they hear something like a gun shot. Then it goes from exercise to real world because you have to investigate these claims and clear the base. Better to be safe then sorry.
Woah, huh. I live two stones' throws away (not Fairborn, that'd be one stone) from Wright-Patterson, their damn planes fly right over my house. My aunt works on the base.
Can sort of confirm, she told us that it was basically someone did not get the entire message of what was going on. Not entirely surprising because, yeah, Wright-Patterson is huge. Just Chambersburg road going around outside it into Fairborn damn near feels like a highway with how long it goes on.
