Let me guess, the people digging this up are alt-righters.
"Oh man it's kind of sick how much joy I get out of being cruel to old white men"
Fucking imagine if she said any race but white. Like that's call the police level if she really was abusing old people.
This weaponized outrage bullshit needs to stop, it’s been going on forever and now that people on the right have realized it’s value this is just going to escalate even further.
now you dont have to imagine

Wow I cant believe the New York Times is dead.
So she was harassed and decided to mimick the people harassing her, and now she realizes that was wrong and regrets it, and the nyt is okay with it.
Not seeing the outrage here. Plus the reddit threads on this are filled with the_donald posters clutching pearls over this as if they don't spend half their waking lives complaining about black/brown people and the (((deep state)))
The right wing cheats and uses every advantage. If she was only mocking people who harassed her by sending these tweets to them, that's not that bad.
Plus this is from 4 years ago, so The New York Times was probably already well aware of it when they hired her this year.
If she truly realizes that the shit she said was fucked up and has a change of heart, I don't mind NYTimes keeping her.
Although, it would probably be good idea if she made a public apology herself, and she better not go back on that rhetoric.
That comment about white people living underground like goblins is comedy gold
New York Times opinion articles have been dogshit for a while so she actually might be better than the norm.
Shit dude what triggered her so hard??
jokes on her, goblins are known to be dark/green skinned and be short... she fits the bill more than white people, people like her are completely unaware.
anyway i think she wants to be white.
What a despicable BITCH, who thinks just because two bombs were dropped on her home lands she should get reparations from white people. Sad!
White isn't a race, it's a scam.
It's a state of mind
I'm cool with not firing people for shit in their past that they regret but for some reason I highly doubt that they'd be so lenient with a white dude who posted the exact same tweets but about black people.
White chick, but yeah they fired her.

Title is kinda misleading. It implies that she recently made racist tweets when these were actually quite some time ago.
okay... this is epic. keep it up pal, troll those libtards hard, epic style!
Remember, the alt-right are using tweets and other figures like these to bring more people to there side. They will convince them that the media/left/etc. are pushing an agenda to "attack" white people, and news like this only brings more over.
I'm sure she was doing it to mock her harassers, but none of it was tweeted at them it were just general tweets so those who are against her will not see it as such.
race in general is a scam designed to excuse hatred and imperialism
but we're a long, long way off from being "post-racism" so anyone who things that "calling people racists" is making people racist is full of it.
to this day people are still trying to push this phrenology bullshit, or "culture differences" garbage to excuse their racism. The reality is that Europeans, for centuries, have been colonizing (and even after that "ended", we're still exploiting their populations for cheap labor via neocolonialism) the entire globe, and our whole nice cushy first world lifestyle is predicated on that system.
We talk about automation losing jobs in america, but how about in other places? What happens when the people working for sweatshops in southeast asia suddenly aren't useful for us anymore? They're already criminally underpaid for the work they put out. There's gonna be a massive humanitarian crisis, and we are sorely not suited to deal with that considering how well we're dealing with the current ongoing ones like A slaughter in silence – VICE News
well that was a tangent i guess, didn't really feel like making a thread for it though
The context is pretty different though. The whole punching up vs punching down thing. I'm sure white people will survive some tweets that were posted out of frustration with the system, rather than some racist attacking minorities from a position of power.
The whole attempt at making the situations equal in magnitude is pretty actively harmful, and is usually an argument used in bad faith by bigots. Having her apologize is enough if she doesn't repeat it in the future.
The flipside of this specific situation never would have happened if the roles were reversed. An Asian woman experiencing both racist and misogynistic abuse turned that rhetoric back on her harassers. A white man would never be harassed like that, and therefore would never have/need the ammunition to make that same point.
I think it's different because "Black people" as a term arose out of necessity where "white people" did not. You ask a black person in the states what their heritage is and they might not know. Slavery wiped the slate clean of whatever identity they could claim before. Ask a white person like me and I would respond by saying I'm half scottish, half british and a smidge of french. I have identities I can claim a relationship to, where black people in america for a long time had no idea where their family originated from.
and also as @dark_vivec pointed out, the white race is socially constructed and historically quite fluid in terms of who is white and who is not. There's this famous court case Plessy Vs. Ferguson where a mixed race man mostly of european descent was refused service because he was 1/8th of african descent.
I've never heard of this writer before and couldn't care less whether she's fired or not, but it seems like a lot of these posts are giving a pass on what she's said under the assumption the people who "dug it up" are even worse. Do we even know who is responsible for bringing it up and what their agenda was? And even so, is that relevant at all to what she has said?
If she was being targeted by white supremacist groups is the appropriate response to fling racist vitriol right back from her public twitter account? Do "this is the alt-rights doing" or "white people aren't even a race/have more privilege" really seem like appropriate excuses?
Can we not make bullshit excuses just because she's liberal? Her tweets weren't some clever satire on her harassers, they were just random racist nonsense being retroactively defended. Quit pretending this had anything to do with harassment and not just her being a mild racist dope. Also people saying it was four years ago lol, 4 years ain't shit, especially when the author can't even properly come out and apologize but instead is actually playing the victim and trying to justify months of blatantly racist tweets with two random hate tweets.
There are plenty of white people who don't know where we came from. The best guess for my ancestry is "Quaker" but other than that I have no idea since that's a religion, not a nationality. My Great Grandparents were all White Americans and I don't know what European ancestors they might have had.
If we accept that a man teaching his dog to do the nazi salute is not racist and just trolling, I think Sarah Jeong is fine
