Thought they'd be worth way more than that tbh; they're basically the Beats headphones of microphones(albeit fairly inexpensive and decent quality).
Don't you dare compare blue with beets by farmer Dre
I'd also imagine the market for listening to music is bigger than the market for recording music.
??? Beyond the cheap USB mics, blue has really good XLRs that are p. gud value.
People think Blue only makes Snowball, Yeti, and Snowflake. But their midrange and high end mics are fantastic. Some of the best selfnoise performance I've seen.
I wonder if their high end mics would be discontinued
"they're the beats headphones of microphones, except completely different and better"
omg this site sometimes. Don't need three people+ hopping onto one of my comments every time one is poorlu explained/wordeddd I obviously meant as in they're basically the company the majority of people see/think of when looking into buying a microphone, hence why I made sure to mention separately that the price and quality however are much higher than Beats are. My point was that Beats basically dominated the casual headphone market and were ultimately sold for $3 Billion, whereas this company, that basically dominates the casual microphone market, is worth a tiny fraction of that, despite arguably even less competition. Thought it was just a low evaluation, that's all.
More people use headphones - it's as simple as that. Blue Microphones is only a fairly recent company as well and their microphones are as sought after as many others.
I understand the differences between the two markets, but even then, we're talking 3 Billion, versus less than $200 million. Just seemed surprising that's all. I mean in terms of headphones, Beats sold very well, but there are a multitude of other companies, all providing somewhat competitive prices, while also being significantly higher quality, yet that didn't affect Beats massive appraisal. Although microphones do have a bit more competition, they have far less brand recognition in general(asides from maybe shure I guess), so I assumed a company as well known as Blue would automatically be worth quite a lot, even based solely on their brand image alone. Guess the market for microphones really is just that much smaller?
Blue seems to be s fairly mediocre brand that just seems to be popular with the masses. Obvs I'd consider Blue to be midrange at best, but it's interesting to see how so many people think it's the creme de la crème when Shure or Neumann mics fucking blow them out of the water
Most people aren't saying it's the best shit to ever grace this earth, just that they're really good value i.e. they're great for the price.
