• How do I get people on a server?
    8 replies, posted
I own a StarWars server and I would like to know how I can get more people on my server. I don't have any friends that play Gmod. Someone please help!
Play on it, only 1 player can already be enough. play on weekend times. Like right now, on friday evenings, during the whole weekend. Alot more people are online during that time. Make the server ACTUALLY interesting so people stay.
Thank you!
Follow your own server rules to make people stay and not abuse just because you are Owner.
And don't give your friends Superadmin, all you're doing is opening a playground for catastrophy.
Let the staff hopers go, dont try to keep them around, theyre just after worming their way in to abuse commands later, Talk to people who join and make friends with them, they'll probably still leave but uve gotta be understanding that players make the game fun, Build up your steam friendlist for people to join off you even if you play other servers, now dont be a dick and directly advertise but nothing wrong with playing with like minded people and making friends, they may be bored one day view game info and join yours.
Something to make it special can really help it stand out from all the hundreds of other Star Wars servers. It could be welcoming community, focus on good RP, something innovative etc.
I feel like it's by coincidence because I've seen people in the past creating servers just like any other server nothing special in it and all of sudden players joins it It's like when you create a server and care so much about getting players on it you won't get any but when you create a server and add addons etc etc on it but when you don't care about getting players on it all of sudden players will join
Don't abuse your power. Make your server original and different from others so that people cannot find ANYTHING similar to your server, anywhere. This will make your players enjoy your server and consider it something worth playing. Keep updating it and start cool RP scenarios. Choose your staff wisely and make them rank up slowly; do not give someone admin straight after they apply for staff. Start them off with extremely basic trial mod > mod > head mod > etc. Hope that helps you out.
