I think this is one of the better cinematics they've done for WoW. Really dig how it's quiet and introspective, not focused on action.
Saurfang captures what the original Horde (not the Demon blood one) was all about.
Shame we're stuck with morally grey Sylvanas. Playing an undead makes it even worse
tbh I think WoW's lore is lackluster and boring but man Blizard can craft a compelling cinematic. I still don't understand why blizard doesn't just make a hour and a half long cinematic and package them as movies. They have the skill to make a visually compelling narrative at the very least.
When I started WoW I played Undead cus I wanted to play as the Warcraft II humans. Too bad they're the bad guys now. I think what Blizzard has done with death knights is more in tune what I was hoping the forsaken would be about
It always bummed me out that the Undead have pretty much been made comically evil since pretty early on in WoW (WOTLK mostly comes to mind). The idea of the original citizens of Lordaeron fighting to keep their own home in undeath from the Alliance that aims to "liberate" it was a cool angle and made an undead faction into a sympathetic one which is a change from most fantasy fiction. But then in WoW it's just "yo let's make some blight and torture the living for the heck of it"
The Forsaken were still doing some evil shit back in Vanilla, they were just more secretive about it. I remember there were a couple quests that had you testing the New Plague on Alliance prisoners. However, their story was still about trying to survive in a world that wanted to hunt them as monsters. Once Cata rolled out, they went full warmonger mode and plague bombed the shit out of everyone. Sylvanas is no better than Apothecary Putress at this point.
Also, a nice detail someone pointed out. Saurfang makes the same gesture to Zekhan as he did with his son. https://i.imgur.com/P5vDi5X.png
This really makes me wish they had done something good for the warcraft movie rather than the drivel we ended up with.
To be fair, the quieter orc-centric moments of the Warcraft movie were actually pretty alright. The rest was schlock. Schlock I admittedly found fun but schlock nonetheless.
I actually liked the Warcraft movie but I really do wish we could have a full CGI film from Blizzard instead
i wonder if there's actually going to be a faction split or it's only lip service to give justification for horde to fight "just cuz lol" probably the latter
the WoW lore has been so dumb lately, first whatshisface went full warmonger and bomb cities left and right, then the alliance retaliated by attacking the completely neutral tauren (wtf lol), then sylvanas suddenly learns nothing in her old age about diplomacy by acting absolutely crazy half the time, all the while Jaina is becoming more and more insane who writes this lol
I wonder if they'll do a cinematic for their release of their WoW classic server, maybe an updated version of the original trailer or something.
It's what happens when you burn bridges by constantly having alliance and horde work together against that times "ULTIMATE EVIL OF WORLD KILLING" for 5 expansions straight. There is no way you can go back to an alliance vs horde narrative again after both factions have been spoiled as being heroes that murders gods for fun. No one is willing to play the bad guy any more ever again. just look at this upcoming expansion, like 90% of horde players hate how sylvanas have started a war.
WoW's lore is all over the place. Metzen himself said you're basically time traveling between zones and it makes no sense. Deathwing is still a threat In most starting zones, and once you enter Outland the game forgets about DW and now Illidan & Kael'Thas are the new threats. We really need a new standalone Warcraft, but who knows how that would play.
90% of the Horde players hate how Sylvanas started the war over generally being disconnected with the Horde and being a bitch. Not to mention lying about torching a place that was blessed by the Dragon Flights to be the second world tree, and burning a bunch of innocents to death. All of her shit is just completely illogical and dumb.
watch them say she's corrupted by an old god to become even more evil and power hungry good guy sylvanas will come about when she dies, it will be like arthas's death
I've always wanted to see an open world Warcraft ARPG.
What bugs me the most is it feels like she'll become just Garrosh 2.0, which we already dealt with through two expansions. We already had our little faction war in cataclysm with horde pushing into alliance territory and the alliance retaliating or just staying on the defense so this expansion doesn't feel like it'll be a new experience.
I'm guessing Saurfang and his troll buddy will be the Lor'Themar and Vol'jin of this campaign.
i was looking forward to alliances (lolnopunintended) being formed after the wars and whatnot. It's a lot more fun than the tired AvH that kept going on, and the artificial barriers put in place just drain the game for me... not to mention the horrible class changes that Legion brought
Yeah I just stopped playing seriously in cata after they decided to nerf the difficulty of pve content and I stopped playing pvp in mists. I come back every now and again to try out the new stuff and instantly get reminded why i quit.
You've missed out on mythic+ dungeons
Nah I've played in legion a little bit. I hated the artifact grind with all of my heart. same with the pvp level grind.
after hearing what they did to my favorite spec and that they were bringing back pathfinder quests in legion (what the everliving fuck blizzard) I unsubscribed for the first time since I started playing since the beta of '04. They really did a number on one of my favorite games and it tilts me to no end.
I cried
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Legion was very exhausting to play. It's like it had the opposite problem of WoD by having too much shit to do. I remember hitting level 110 and just being overwhelmed by the amount of quests they threw in my face and I didn't know where to go.
It was incredibly exhausting, had to log on and play at least 6 hours a day or maybe more if you wanted to stay on top of artifact power traits. too low and people wouldn't want you for anything. I have a feeling bfa will be the same with the azerite so i'm sitting this one out.
