https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/christopher-robin-refused-china-release-winnie-pooh-crackdown-1131907 Imagine being so offended by a meme that you ban a new movie that features a character involved with it.
A source pins the blame on the country’s crusade against images of the Winnie the Pooh character, which has become a symbol of the resistance with foes of the ruling Communist Party, namely Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The world circa 2018.
Nah. When have authoritarian regimes ever not been incredibly thin-skinned?
“Oh bother.”
I'm gonna laugh my ass off when the censored chinese version is released
It'll just be xi jinping instead
Well, they won't be missing much.
Pooh Bear will be digitally replaced by his new Chinese cousin, Chu Bear. He's literally just pooh with his shirt replaced by the Chinese Flag and he constantly talks about how great communism is.
Probably never. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-12139150
Can anyone else not refrain from pronouncing his name; 'Shitting ping' ?
It's not thin skin. You don't get to keep that power built that way without silencing any and all opposition. Don't get me wrong, then censoring Pooh is hilarious, but activists disappear the same way as a band meme.
I mean there was Obama. He never really minded that people were making fun of him everytime they said "Thanks, Obama" and even joined in on the fun.
Did you just make that comparison.
>authoritarian regime >obama pick one
I cant wait for you to demonstrate and prove that Obama was in any way authoritarian
Honestly, I completely missed the part that said "authoritarian regime". My Mistake.
