I realised what point we're at the other day when I saw a BBC report casually going through the logistics of stockpiling critical food and medical supplies if there's no deal. Welcome to the completely artificial endtimes
The pride and greed of the few endangering the lives of millions.
Hope it’ll be worth it, Brexiteers. Winning is important, I guess. Just, fuck your people and economy, right?
People tell me the Torie extremists want No Deal to line their pockets, but what about the party itself? The thing they hold above everything else? The party will possibly be destroyed beyond repair in the eyes of the country if No Deal is as terrifying as it's made out to be.
No one will give a shit about the slander used against Corbyn anymore when there are riots, soldiers at every street and people dying due to the lack of insulin.
but 1.9% more of the population wanted to leave so it should be the hardest most complete separation possible, not one that reflects a middling path where the other 48.1% would agree with.
considering the amount of them applying for citizenship elsewhere, I don't think they give a shit.
not to mention the already extant schism in the party getting about a million times wider with all the Remainers trying to (rightly) pin the blame on other Conservatives. if it goes as badly as Carney says it will then i honestly think the party will completely fracture, if it even survives.
Reading shit like this makes me want for a revolution half the time. That 60% way too high, on top of whatever the percent probability there is for a Brexit at all.
This is a complete farce, there are absolutely zero benefits to leaving the EU as it stands, and despite "project fear" being right consistently, apparently that's not enough for the government to realise they're about to sink their own country. May herself doesn't look to benefit from this at all, it's all the other absolute cock holsters around her that are benefiting in spite of every other citizen of the country.
The only businesses that I can think of that want Brexit are uhhh...Wetherspoons and that's basically it. Because the owner is a massive fucking xenophobe himself.
They failed all of us. The only silver lining is that the infernal fucking bastards who ruined Wales not once, but twice, will be finally out of the history books.
I wonder, when the UK rejoins the EU with its tail between its legs, will the pound have crashed so hard they'll finally adopt the Euro.
Been thinking recently that Article 50 itself is flawed and the EU should probably change it for any future departures.
You get to years to negotiate and then if there's no deal, you auto-leave
Sounded fine when I first heard about it, but why doesn't it work like this: you get two years to negotiate. If there's no deal you stay in. Your government can then activate another Article to withdraw with no deal if it chooses. This takes effect after three months.
No one wanted to withdraw with no deal at the start. It's just something we've been forced into, and now we're up against an arbitrary deadline after which disaster will strike. If Article 50 worked like this we would at least have a choice about whether to jump off the cliff - and we could still do it if we wanted to. Would it cause uncertainty? Yes. More uncertainty than the current process? Not so sure
The three month waiting period also gives at least a little time to prepare. As it stands, we could theoretically be negotiating up to the final week and then suddenly find out "oh fuck we're leaving with no deal and it's in 2 days, get ready boiz"
Well, you've got 8 more months to escape before the collapse comes around.
Either that or make like a doomsday prepper and stock up.
As someone with friends and family who work in the agricultural industry here in Wales, I feel like a cow staring at an oncoming train
Tory cunts like to ramble about how we'll get new trade deals and opportunities but it'll never happen. What we're getting instead is more propaganda and bullshit like this:
The new plans which would reduce the number of MPs representing ..
It feels like the point of the 2 year auto withdrawal is to encourage people to make that decision before invoking article 50 in the first place. If you could just declare you were leaving the EU, run out the clock, and return with no consequences then the UK alone would have invoked article 50 dozens of times by now purely to piss people off.
two years these thundercunts have arsed around and now it's the rest of us that are going to pay
no good can come from no-deal. none.
How does this git still have a job after all the shit he's pulled in the past?
ya and its also possible britain is just doing this brexit thing ass backwards, the main crux is on what agreements they can negotiate as an individual country afterwards which is pretty shortsighted.
Article 50 was drafted to make it specifically easy for any state to eject from the EU, and it occurred because of the fear of any member state falling prey to nationalist authoritarianism after seeing how easily nations fell to fascism and other forms of dictatorial regimes both during and after WW2 (Franco in Spain, for example). This has recently become relevant as some European nations slide further and further into the nationalist right.
It just so happens to have been triggered by stupid and outright lies in the UK's case.
Nothing is more dangerous for the EU than having the UK sitting off the coast of Europe not tied to any rules.
They're terrified because they know that unchained from the EU's burdensome rules, we'll be free to shit the bed more ruthlessly than ever before
Uh
I can think of a hundred things that pose more genuine economic threats, from China, through to African nations. The UK is literally not a problem and you're pretty much just playing your part in continuing this hollow lie you keep peddling.
that or start a massive humanitarian crisis.
Why would that happen in any universe that isn't fiction
If Brexit does continue, and in particular we end up with a no-deal scenario, it's not an impossiblity for that to happen. We're going to suffer a brain drain from this no matter what as our position in the EU is a massive boon to our academic and research groups. France is also real fucking close by and there's plenty of expats out there already.
Obviously Dave who spends his time at the Coral isn't going to flee to France. But a fair few people are likely to. Shit a guy at work is contemplating moving back out there due to this fucking stupid mess. Even in a Brexit in name only scenario it's going to fuck out skilled labour industries up a bit.
So it would be a large emigration and not a humanitarian crisis considering that a large amount of people who lived and worked in a first world country are not going to start starving to death on the way into France.
Unless the Eurostar closes the cafe cabin
the no brexit scenarios (as laid out by britain's own government) range from an economic downturn to total social collapse as all imports cease on the day of brexit and nobody knows how to get anything into britain.
I can tell you my plan is to get an Irish passport and jump ship if I get the opportunity.
I got a job in Denmark 2 months ago and bailed out
Work permit, suckers
Except a no-deal Great Britain would be the lowest point since decades.
Basic logic is not your thing, we all get it.
